Overall I was happy with the beta weekend, sure it was buggy, but that’s beta for you. I knew it could well be, I’ve done plenty of alpha/beta testing before.
During the weekend I decided to test Dragonhunter, since Guardian is one of my characters that I enjoy playing a lot.
Overall opinion:
Pros:
*Longbow is a nice 1200 weapon, a good improvement over Sceptre.
*Capable of stacking a decent amount of burn, which helps whenever I get stuck with stuff like Modrem Husks.
*Traps are reasonably powered, covering a niche that I personally thought Guardian lacked in a bit. Damaging utilities.
*Trait line isn’t too specific, so the traits apply in multiple situations.
*Lower cooldown on healing than Signet, if you’re not using the Signet boost trait.
Cons:
*The trait which makes traps inflict bleeding seems pointless, as it only sticks a single bleed stack (at about 260 damage). Considering the article on Dragonhunter eludes to them being able to deal more conditions, I expected that to be more potent.
*Traits are perhaps a little backwards in terms of unlock? 7% damage boost on the lowest tier. More of a comment that a negative.
*Trap range or the lack of ground targeting comes over as strange to me. Dragonhunter trait line basically gives you reasons to stay 600+ (+10% damage), but then wants you to run in under 600 to drop traps. Traps work nicely with Greatsword, but that’s not exactly the point.
*Traps perhaps need a bit more variation in what they do? Two damage and debuff wise are near identical.
Just to add to that trap thing, I’m not complaining about the range, just the fact it comes over as contradictory to me.
Keep up the good work Anet! o/
