I was hoping for a better match too, especially considering all the talk of a push by CD for gold to begin with.

The people talking about pushing were not the commanders. Most commanders realized that going gold meant getting rolled for 4 weeks and losing most of our casual players after week 1(which is a significant portion of our server). It was the random players who thought “Crystal Desert will has what it takes to overcome an epic Challenge!” that were posting about going gold.

What are you smoking and are you even on CD or just a forum lurker ?

Pretty much every guild and commander on CD voted in that thread, the result were mixed but the overall consensus was if we push or get gold we’re going to fight and enjoy it. Most of us have been through the ups and downs and 4 weeks of losing is nothing compared to where we used to be. Whether that be on CD during its implosions or on other servers.

In a way… both Tiffany an Tex are right. Up until the unfortunate match that made it almost impossible CD was stoked at the possibility of going gold. The votes Tex refers to were prior to the last weeks match. When the chance to gain enough glicko diminished to virtually zero the community decided to take it easy the the last week before reset. Any hype the last week seemed to be coming from members of other servers based on old info.

This first Season Match with Yaks and DB is going to be the test. I believe these two servers are strong and have strong motivation to push against CD. CD came out strong in the first hours of the match (due largely to a generous ALS fund raising campaign I’ll post info on later) but our non prime coverage doesn’t seem to be up to the task of holding off Yaks and DB the other 16 hours of the day (At least not last night).

All it all it was a great night. Keep up the good fights CD/Yaks/DB.

CD is playing a bit of possum probably to avoid Gold or they are really disorganized. They have some big numbers a large chunk of the day. Despite all the talk I still haven’t seen a strong DR. They could be chilling until the tournament though (their Hills has been WP’d by YB for a long time). YB is an odd duck but they siege and refresh so there is that. They also seem to have some decent BL groups.

They stopped pushing after hearing ratings were already locked.

If organizing GvGs in OS and playing with the new content is pushing. Then we are pushing.

Seriously…it’s obvious we are taking it easy so we will be fresh for Season. (Silver or Gold…doesn’t matter to us.)

I don’t think the information that CD is making a big push is accurate. As far as I can tell we are all playing with the new toys from the content update and still relaxing before season starts.

P.S. The TP looks pretty now but It’s more clunky to use that it was before.

There you have it. One commander during SEA in EBG. That’s pretty unheard of on Borders during NA prime. Not that we wouldn’t do it. We just don’t do it on off weeks… or any week actually because we don’t run those kind of numbers normally.

Is it really that unheard of? We always have one SEA commander on float, and he’s quite good at getting things done whether it be EBG or Borders. And NA prime? We almost always have a commander in every border. We don’t necessarily have a ton of people to back each one up, but we’ve tried to get a running rule: if you have a tag and in you’re in a map that doesn’t, you pop it. People like to see tags. People see a tag in a map, and they’re more likely to stay. When you have folks popping in and saying stuff like “Hello? Anything happening in here?” we feel there’s something wrong. And this isn’t just NA prime or SEA or whenever, it’s always.

I meant that you don’t see border commanders in NA Prime put 5 catas on a paper gate. You cut out the context from a previous conversation …

The only prediction I have is that CD is excited about this Season and will be working to improve our already excellent inter-guild coordination.

I think there is exaggeration or misinformation here. I’ve never seen any CD group drop 5 catas on a paper tower. It’s possible some random guild group is doing that but it’s not the core group of WvW players in CD.

Was no exaggeration on my part. Today, I literally saw 5x guild catas at QL and Durios which were taken and re-capped by us without a tick even passing. I honestly just struggled to understand the mentality of whoever was commanding because it literally was a pure waste of resources for no points gain. If CD are pushing for T2, some would do well to understand some basic mechanics a bit better first. :P

If it wasn’t any of the core people, fair enough. Was just rather amusing to see.

EBG…that goes further to explain it than anything else. CD generally considers EBG a PUG zone or a place commanders go for open field combat.

Even taking it easy CD has pushed to within 11 points of Magguuma. We may not be ready for Gold but we can certainly hold our own against YB and DR. We broke DR and YB is taking advantage of DR’s border while CD takes a break.

We papered DRBL and held the day yesterday for more than 10 hours and then during SEA you backcapped their stuffs when our population is obviously less than CD. And using 4-5 guild catas for paper towers? Trying too hard to ppt? lol

Unless we are moved to Gold next week (please no!!) I would love how this silver league would turn out to be this season considering there are atleast 5 very even servers.

It’s entirely possible that about 8 hours of a day CD outnumbers Yaks. It’s also possible that 16 hours of the day Yaks outnumbers CD and Yaks does the same thing you accuse CD of doing when we outnumber you. I can tell you that since I have been on today in NA Prime we have been double teamed on CDBL. With three servers running even numbers we are holding CDBL, Widening the margin on DR and Gaining on Yaks. The week is not over yet my friend.

… I still don’t get how so many people can say with any sort of accuracy that the game is dying. Maybe their group of friends stopped playing for whatever reason, or their servers WvW players decided to switch play times, or whatever.

I certainly don’t see a declining player base in any of the modes I go to. In fact I see the opposite. I see “new player help” threads all the time. See “returning player, whats new” threads even more then new player threads. Did my group of friends stop playing? yeah, all 5 of them. But I guess that means the game is dying, and the player base has shrunk dramatically to the point where we should start being worried….Yeah not so much.

I have had exactly the same experience. Have some friend left the game? Yes…but many return and I’ve made many more.

I belong to a WvW guild that is growing steadily (and we don’t openly recruit) on a server where the WvW community is also growing steadily (and we don’t pay for transfers). I don’t buy the “GW2 is dying line.”

The Match-up CD got with Yaks/DR was unfortunate for our rating. The consensus in CD was that we would take a break this reset and be fresh for season since our performance matters very little this week. The fact that Yaks is beating CD now is not an indication of what is to come once season starts. Many Die Hard WvW’s are taking a well deserved break after months of climbing the “Silver Ladder”. We don’t care if we are Silver or Gold. Either way we will “bring it” when Season starts.

Need people who play on Crystal desserts opinion..

Im looking to transfer to your server in the next few days as I’ve returned to the game, the question I have is, is there a specific class that is in need for general small man groups, roaming etc? I’m sure that the sept update will have an effect on this, so keep it in mind..

You will find a variety of guilds and play styles on CD. Some guild are more formal and request certain builds while others (like mine) are casual and let you run the class/build/style you enjoy the most. Most CD organized guilds run 10-15 man groups for either PPT or open field combat. Small havok groups also thrive in CD. If Zerging is your thing… there are a few Zergmanders as well. My guild specializes in “Border Defense” and we split members into multiple smaller groups for overall map awareness. We may have scouts in the keeps or havoc teams running patrol routes and we communicate closely with most of the other commanders when our holdings are contested by more than a handfull of Enemy.

If Mag doesn’t get RNG dropped next week, there is a good chance they are staying in gold for the tournament. They will be about 47 points ahead of CD by the end of this match. It’s not likely that SoS/FA can drop Mag’s rating again by so much since we’d have to win by even more than we are now. CD would also have to pull away from the other T3 servers to make up the difference. Would be very hard to do so if YB or DR roll up next week with their lower rating. It would still be hard against DB and SBI seeing as how CD is currently not gaining rating.

Tomorrow evening is going to be a lot of fun finding out if Mag drops or not.

CD made gains today and is now 12 points up on DB and 21 Points up on SBI. Mag lost some more Glicko today so the margin of 42 is close to the drop (40) for Mag this week. I expect by end next week CD and Mag will be virtually tied for Glicko.

It’s not win or lose it’s how you play the game. The CD Council set’s attainable goals and the community stands tall to meet them. Our current goal is Top T3. If we happen to move to T2 we will set new goals after assessing the competition. If we determine that it’s all we can do to hold Garrison for 24 hours that will be our goal. Once we obtain that goal we will set another. That’s how we roll. We are not afraid to play against T1 and T2 servers. We see it as a challenge and growth opportunity.

It was a holiday weekend in the states where most of us are from. We may focus on WvW when we are in game but we focus on Life first.

Put your money on CD. The CD community will not take a dive on purpose and we look forward to the opportunity to compete at a higher level. We will learn and adapt.
