$50 for the expansion? I showed them...

I find it amazing how now so many people spend 1/8th of the price of the expansion on some wings, but complain about the $50,- expansion not being worth the price. Sure the two might be related, if you buy those wings you don’t expect kitten,- expansion and if you get kitten,- expansion you expect such wings in the game itself, but it still amazes me… Or do most people simply grind gold for the gems? (But do they then enjoy the game?)
Income usually spikes around an expansion so the people spending money on these things are just a smaller group but can you (if you are one of them) please explain to me why you complain about the $50,- not being worth the content (what might be a valid reason.. I mean for that price I do in fact expect those wings (and such items) to be a reward in game) but then are fine with such a price for those wings.. how is that worth the price?
Ahahah you are unlucky, I bought GW2 at release and never purchased anything else at shop such as wings or any single gem, and about ppl that, as you said, spend 1/8th of the price of the expansion on some wings I can just reply again quoting myself:
It became obvious why gaming industry makes jokes of us (50$ for a little expansion even for players that already have the game) with ppl like you throwing money like that… GG
I want to clarify that I am not “envious” about ppl that want to spend money like this, I just think that a price should be fair. If I buy a Ferrari at 500K (GW2 original game) and after one year I want new wheels (expansion HoT) I don’t have to pay 500K a-g-a-i-n… Nowadays people don’t think about this, they just accept what marketing impose to us, and passively accept to buy things overpriced, like zombies, and the funny thing is that you are on this forum trying to convince people like me that you are right! LoL, this is brainwash….
Sadly we are in this crazy-price situation because I think that a lot of players just buy without thinking, without demanding themselves if the price is fair.

Wow…
You guys should consider to tatoo on your hearth: “I love ANET”.

Its simply about value for the money. New players will get more value (five toon slots, bank tab etc.) than existing players who upgrade for the same $50. Anet has staked out a position that this is somehow a good thing.
The real question for you and the rest of us, is the expansions content worth their asking price? If you like the class you currently play, mainly WvW or PvP – it sure doesn’t look like it. It might be better to wait until they discount the expansion and jump in then.
Tell me this: what if ANET instead of this insane marketing politic offered the possibility to us old players to just purchase HoT at, let’s say mmmmh, 19,99? (and I personally think HoT value is even lower than this, but this is another story..)
You look like this solution is such a gift from the gods… something waaaay too generous from ANET… How can you accept the joke that they are offering you like that?? You look like: “I don’t care how much money you want from me, just take my money and let me play”.

The core game has been in sale for 10$.
As a veteran you get a character slot worth 10$ while new players get the core game, that cost 10$ before (as ANet states it’s even 100% free now)Problem solved.
I don’t have any free slot, I have not pre-purchased this joke at this ridiculous price. I’m surprised that at least in that post they said “thank you dear loyal old players”, lol… well thank you too sir
OP, just because someone is getting the game for free, doesn’t mean you’re buying it again.
Lol? I pay the same amount as a new player but the difference is that the new player pays for a GW2+HoS, I pay the same and I just purchase HoS! I already payed the game, I don’t think I’m wrong if I think that is more correct to just pay for HoS.
And you know, if you don’t like that they’re giving away games for free, you’ll eventually not have any MMOs to play at all, because it’s already started. WoW is doing it. EQ is doing it. It removes a barrier for entry to new players. That’s business and it’s logical.
If you don’t like it, don’t buy the game, but it will never change.
If we have situations like this is thanks the behavior of ppl like you: “Hey please steal our money! We are brainless monkeys! We don’t care… How much you want? 50$ for a new class and 2 maps? Just take our money and let us play.”.
And this is it, here we are…

How can you possibly have zero consideration and respect for old players?
I have GW2 since the release, and the only thing you say to loyal players like me is: “For our long-standing fans and loyal players, we would like to say thank you and show our appreciation”.
Wow… just wow i mean… hey… What a wonderful world, people are so nice… I would like to hug the person who wrote this message… This touched my heart, so moving… :’-O
Ok now seriously, I feel so pfffffffffffffff.
Give veterans the possibility to purchase Heart of Thorns at lower price!!!
Why do we have to purchase the game at full price AGAIN?!?!? For a new class and 2 maps??? LOL.
Why new players are more considerated than us?!!
I would also consider the possibility to erase all my chars and restart from zero to have HoS at a lower (REASONABLE) price.
This politic is totally insane, but if your goal was to make the old community angry and upset then well… YOU WON SIR.
