Something everyone forgets about Thieves.

Yet again, I’d beg to differ.

1. even with all these extra utility stealths, one can only do so much to waiting for that initiative comes back. already, bear in mind that the thief already takes 8 initiative on his stealth approach, maybe and extra 8 to jump around before strike. this already gives him less options in taking the warrior out without much of a fight.

2. A well experienced warrior can simply shake off the initial Backstab, cc to trap the thief down, burst with a large aoe attack like Combustive arrow and finish off the remainder of the thiefs health with it.

Fact. I’ve seen too many thieves being overly confident that the warrior wouldn’t be much of a challenge after the initial strike, and they go straight for heartseekers, which would be their demise.

3. I give this one to you in that a warrior wouldn’t be able to chase the thief. however, a thief with long ranged shadowstepping capabilities can, and will chase down the retreating thief with relative ease.

I’d beg to differ. Countering perma stealth D/P thieves takes patience and anticipatation. To note, perma stealth eats a lot of initiative and requires a lot of micromanagement.

Wait for the thief to run out of initiative, and burst him down while he’s scrambling to retreat and retry the attack. Using a multi hit skill, like hundred blades for example, while the thief uses black powder while he spams dagger 1 on you is enough to cut at least half of his health, even when blinded.

Guild Wars 2's Hyperinflation crisis.

As we all know, hyperinflation in the Trading Post be it Currency Exchange or even an level 80 Exotic crafted weapon , is always on the rise whenever new Gem items are released.

This has been the trend ever since players (I’m guilty as well) start exploiting and abusing the currency exchange to play ‘stock market’ – buying gems to convert to gold or vice versa and investing and getting huge sums of profit out of it.

Some are out there just to get their favorite legendary precursor skins or extra character slots.

But what we all have to realize, is that everything the new Gem releases; Fine transmutation stones/Molten Pickaxe/makeover set, etc. is directly affecting the market. This forces all forms of casual players to grind dungeons endlessly for that.

But I have a proposal to combat this effect. Switch the trading system back to where it was in the orginal Guild Wars.

-No Gems.
Extra cosmetic items and other cash consumables are all paid with Real Money, not gold which has been converted to gems, or even a third party currency for that matter.

-No Currency Exchange.
This is the real problem which is stirring the market up high so much. A newbie player would have no chance of affording his first exotic when he/she hits level 80. Anyone would counter propose to dungeon farming. I say thats a whole lot of bullcrap, because it purely wastes the player’s experience in Guild Wars 2.

This ends my rant about the matter, but also leads to the items featured in the Gem Shop itself.

-Fine transmutation stones/Transmutation Crystals.
These should be placed in an NPC vendor which sells them for 2gold per piece. At its current state, buying just 5 of these would cost you roughly 20gold after converting them to gems. Which is highly unethical and nonsensical. Not to mention there would be constant fluctuations in the market itself.

-Town clothing/costumes.
Not much to say, except that they can be sold by a vendor as well. I just don’t see the reason why’d they have to be in the Gem Shop which is too pricey.

-Primeval Armor/Krytan/Profane Skins.
Same as above really. Can’t there be another armor art set which involves these?

In the end though, I’d really really love to see what everyone would think about this matter and that things could hopefully change for the better than it is now. It is already my 7th month into this game, and I’d hate to see it go down to other MMO paths, where farming for more gold was more important than having a good and memorable experience here.

Dress up a sniper!

This was the sniper look I settled with – basically a medieval musketeer clad in chainmail armor; the only plate armor used here were the gaunlets and helmet. Also used the guild baackpack to compliment the overall marksman feel.

Do you miss Guild Wars 1 ?

Yes, although its still installed and I have done everything I wanted and needed to do. I can still pop in when it takes my fancy.

Things I miss
Gameplay – Having goals and being able to do them goals without the worry that my maxed gear will shortly become obsolete. Actually knowing what goal to go for, for the same reason, always logged on and had some goal to go for, now I just sit on GW2 wondering whether its worth going for this, that or the other just to find it will be obsolete by the time I get it. Basically I miss the pure Horizontal progression, I knew where I was and knew if I took a lengthy break for personal reason I could come back without feeling I was left far behind and need to grind to catch up and can just enjoy the many things to do in the game without worrying about increasing my gear stats.
I miss the solo friendly feeling GW1 had too. If there was parts of the game you didn’t want to group up for you didnt have to with the Heroes/Hench facility. In GW2 I am forced to group up and PUG in a party with random peeps to do dungeons and even my own Personal story. However I do prefer the open worldness of GW2 where you can just help other people you meet (without having the feeling I was forced to help or join)
The community – it was less stressy and less anxious, no segregation due to mixed progression, no elitism (coz grinding shows your awesomeness more than skill right?), GW1 seemed more sociable and less bickering.
Builds/Skills – The freedom of being able to mess and experiment with a multitude of builds without the need to spend everytime I wanted to change a build. Plus collecting the skills and capping the Elites.
The Guilds – Probably my biggest miss. I loved the guild structure, the guild halls etc. I played with my guildmates for nearly 7 yrs, we became like a family. There feels none of that in GW2. Guild mates and friends from GW1 have all but left now due to recent ascended addition.

Edit: forgot to add
Communication – Miss how the devs communicated everything clearly and often. For example patch updates and game changes. Just at the moment we don’t seem to get any clarity from the devs with regards to patches and updates. Too much vagueness and kept in the dark.

Could’nt agree more.
