I can't make any money in this game due to mechanics...

I’ve put maybe two hundred hours in now (“just playing”, some WWW, dungeons, the whole ensemble), and have a full exotic set of armour and weapons, but no “end game” jewellery.

Making money is not easy, but it can be done, but it’s not easy and you’re not going to end up with hundreds of gold any time soon. Gather everything, loot everything and sell everything.

Minimising your waypointing, minimising your spend on AH, and being rigorous in gathering can go a long way to help.

But no, I am not going to be “rich” any time soon, and I think it’s designed that way.

From the noise generated about DR there is probably a problem there, but personally speaking I haven’t hit it yet. I can make a gold porting to the most south westerly waypoint and killing everything I see / taking part in all the DEs I encounter, and gathering everything I see just running to the next zone. That’s my “farm”.

I then spend it waypointing to try and get 100% but that’s another matter :-).

To the OP, you didn’t “lose” 2g in WWW, you spent it. There’s a difference.

Intermittent zoning / waypoint issues

Hiya,

I am having intermittent issues zoning, or waypointing within a zone.

Symptoms – Log into the game, or zone via a waypoint (it doesn’t matter whether it is intra-zone or inter-zone), and get presented with the zone splash screen and the rotating whirlygig in the bottom right hand corner.

This can persist for more than twenty minutes, though I normally loose patience after ten and Alt-F4.

Common factors seem to include:-

  • Peak times
  • Busy zones, for instance Lion’s Arch or any waypoint next to a popular dungeon

What is interesting is that it seems to affect my level 80 ranger more than any other character. If I Alt-F4 my ranger attempting to log on and try again, I will frequently see the same problem. However if I log then log on to my level 6 thief or level 2 necro they load immediately.

This would, to me, rule out the traffic shaping problem described in this reddit post – http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/100mwg/guild_wars_2_being_effected_by_traffic_shaping/.

Equally interesting is that it doesn’t always correlate to lots of people being by the way point (ie loading avatars / colours / shapes etc). I have a pretty top end rig, including an SSD, and I normally have no problems at all in graphically intensive events like dragons or W3, so….

Rebooting doesn’t help.

I’ve attached a gameadvisor dump.

When I suffer from this other members of my guild don’t (for instance zoning into the same region).

I’m at a loss, hence this post :-).

Thanks in advance,

Scratch
