When you get that black screen can you alt tab out to the desktop?
If so does your task manager then show GW2 as not responding? If you look in the event viewer do you see any events related to video card issues such as driver stopped responding but recovered and so on?
In the event viewer pay attention to any events under Critical , Error or warning.
Just alt tabbed out, GW2 is still running however the cpu usage of it has gone down to 3% but is still using 1 gig of ram. It’s still responding according to task manager. There seems to be no critical errors at all.

I have been trying to play this game since February and what i have played in between the constant crashing to the black screen was amazing, but It’s just gotten to the point where i cannot handle the 10-15 minutes of game time in between crashes.
I’ve played around with the Nvidia options, I can guarantee that it’s not GPU or CPU overheating as my CPU stays at a stable 50* and my GPU at 70*, It’s not as if it’s crashing because my PC can’t handle the game because my pc is pretty decent. I’ve tried playing around with my Router removing portscan and there was no SPI to disable in the first place.
I’ve been trying to fix this for 3 months since i got the game. Support has been no help at all and their 3 day wait period in between messages hinders more than helps. I have tried pretty much every option to fix this that i have found except plugging my PC into the Modem directly which is not physically possible for me. Can Someone please give me any clue why this is happening?
My PC Specs (if it helps) are:
GPU- GeForce GTX 970
CPU- i5-4690k Cpu
RAM- 8 GB Ram
SSD- 128gb
HDD- Seagate Barracuda 3TB (has GW2 Installed on it)
Alright thanks this will definitely help me choose, however how often do the most popular servers become full? I would enjoy playing on a more populated server however I’m just a bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to play the game due to the server being full. Do servers become full very often?
Hey, I just recently purchased Guild Wars 2 for sale after finally finding a game that might scratch that MMO itch that i had after quitting wow and before that Runescape. I’ve been reading up on the lore and the races of the game and boy do I have time to do that with my Australian Wifi. After finally booting up the game I’m presented with the choice to choose the home server. So as stated in the title what server should I join? Should I join a server that has a high population or a very high population? Should I play an American or European server?
Thank you.
