It would be very cool to see various stats about the economy on a regular basis.
WoW did pretty well making sure there was a lot of info on the web, so jokers like me could pretend to be playing while at work! (I am really looking forward to some iPhone and iPad apps as well.)
I think that keeping people interested and playing the economy will be good for GW overall, actually— there will always be someone who is willing to spend a little more time than you in the game, and worrying about it is best left to people in control of this economy.

I intend on plunking $10 a month or so down until I don’t want to. Average game enjoyment for me is 3-5 months, but I have hopes that a-net is going to do better!

So, I didn’t play the original GW, and this game is one of a fairly decent number of MMO’s I have played. I have been having a great time discovering recipes….but yeah. If you have to have 3 other components to make another item, it would be reasonable to either give you a space in your collectibles tab to hang on to your mid-tier items, or (and this idea is really, REALLY GOOD) do what the above posters have suggested and give you a shortcut. Even if you have the items, you have to bop back and forth between tabs to make things. I have a small notebook with steps involved in making items…when the rest of the game is so much fun, and you have gotten the joy/job of discovery already done, it seems like you should be able to click on an item and just make it. Yes, it is doable the way it is, but there just isn’t a reason that it needs to be made more difficult than cooking already is!
I am not a completionist, nor does everything need to be perfect. But I feel like cooking doesn’t quite align with the rest of the game’s vision. !

I think they should provide a “shortcut” once a very complex recipe is discovered so that u don’t have to craft all the intermediate items one by one to get the final product. For example, the Curry Butternut Squash Soup, instead of having to craft the stock, stirfry mix, curry paste……(list goes on) before you can craft the soup, just list all the required base ingredients in the final recipe and craft it in one go.

Interesting.
I just picked this game up a couple of days back, and brought the elementalist and engineer to 10, and have been trying to figure out who to run with as my main.
This seems to have a pretty valid complaint about engineers; and to those that say, “All you have to do is….” I can respond by saying of course, duh. ANY given situation has a solution, but the question is how laborious that solution is.
I really love the idea of the steampunk fantasy battler. I already love my Charr eng, but I really hate the idea of needing to be carried at the end of my journey!
I like the elementalist too; the worst complaint I’ve read so far is “you have to have d/d”.
Might be true. Disappointing to hear that this class doesn’t have chops to back up it’s “master of it all” scheme, though.
