Thanks for finding this, but this isn’t really skimpy at all in my opinion, kind of a letdown. I really, really would hope to someday see something in the same style as Testament from Guilty Gear – that’s kind of my fantasy in terms of revealing male outfits, especially since my main is a male human necromancer. Doubt it’ll happen, but if it ever does, I’m grabbing it day one for sure.

A poorly-informed rant

Over the past few days, I’ve been watching a lot of gameplay videos, especially WvW, in the interest of choosing a new main profession. As of today, I am extremely disgruntled because of all the professions I’ve seen in action the Thief appeals to me the most, with its rapid mobility, vicious spike damage, and the fact that a good thief seems to be invisible half of the time.

Here’s where the problem comes in: another state in which a good thief seems to spend half of their time is badly injured. Considering that even my current warrior with a very large investment into Toughness is still too squishy for my tastes, it seems pretty obvious that Thief is not going to work well for me.

So why is this a poorly informed rant? Because at this point I’m confused and angry at this game because what it seems to offer me is the choice to pick a profession that looks like fun and have to work my backside off, struggling any time my skills slip, or I can just play a Guardian and, if not faceroll my way to victory, at least get a lot closer than I otherwise could.

Time and time again I see the same advice, “This isn’t WoW, you’re supposed to avoid damage with well-timed evasion/blinds/blocks/whatever and try to avoid getting into too much trouble at once”, and as debatably noble as such a sentiment may be, I say it loses its luster completely when I could just soak it up by playing a Guardian! At that point I have to ask myself what purpose other professions even serve, higher difficulty levels?!

Given the choice between hard work and easy street… is there really even a choice?

Yes, I openly admit to being poorly-informed, biased, ignorant, etc., and my only excuse is that there is a great deal of vague and contradictory information about this game out there, not to mention innumerable wildly idealistic claims such as “Every profession is just as good at everything if you play it right!” So why am I posting this anyway? Because I’m confused and upset and see no (other) solution, except possibly for suffering up to level 80 with every class to verify the truth for myself. Yeah, I think not.

So go on and hate me if you want, call me a n00b, it doesn’t really matter to me. I’m not trolling and this really is how I see the state of the profession choice.
