If you are still having problems, try adding this to your GW2 Shortcut Target:

-assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80

If that doesn’t work, try

-assetsrv 151.249.90.138:80

You can do this by right clicking on your GW2 Shortcut and adding the above text to your Target field. For example your target should look like this:

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80

This is the tag that actually worked for me. I am a bit disappointed my ticket support got me no where, but hunting in the forums got me somewhere. Thank you sir!

Are you running Gw2Setup.exe? Rename it to Gw2.exe and place it where you want to install the game.

That did absolutely nothing for me. I tried it (out of desperation) and it didn’t work. Friend said it wouldn’t work after I told him what I was trying, but I tried it anyway. Thanks for the offer.

So… what is the problem? If your hardware doesn’t meet the requirements, the launcher goes black and a message is displayed, but that can easily be clicked away. It should also still be downloading in the background.

I’m assuming you were capable of downloading Gw2Setup.exe? If the launcher is stuck downloading, you will need to try different asset servers using the command line option and/or try using Google’s DNS.

How did support “demand” for you to buy a new computer? Did they simply tell you that your hardware didn’t meet the requirements and recommend you upgrade? You can request a refund if you want.

No, it doesn’t do that. It simply starts to get the launcher going, then drops to 0/kbs then send me to the login screen, which allows me to go no where. That is what keeps happening. I’m not some idiot complaining on the forums demanding “BAD SUPPORT BAD GAME BOO!”
I know what my computer can and can’t handle. I’ve contacted my friends about this already and they are saying they had the same issue and they have better computer then I, they just had to fiddle around and wait until midnight to get the download to actually function.

The support said “You must buy”. That is what erked me. I was originally okay with the message and a bit disappointed that I couldn’t play the game, but then I came to the threads and found that multiple people have been having the SAME problem as I and I reread what the support person sent me and it was a frustrating and infuriating the way I was treated.

So apparently I can’t download this game right after I bought it today because my “processor” isn’t the best in the world. I get that. Yeah, I do, but to refuse to even let me download the game and try to attempt to the play the game? Okay, that is not cool in the least of bits.
I have a two year old laptop that has been able to run BETA games without a hitch.

I have played WoW, LoL, Borderlands(2), Mabinogi, Minecraft, Creativerse(in open beta), Ragnarok 2, Smite, Team Fortress(2), and other games as such with much higher demanding processing power. They run perfectly fine on my computer actually.

Now the support person named “Ashe” has told me I need to BUY a new computer/processor because the minimum requirements are EXACTLY what they need to be able to simply download the game? Excuse me, but no. You do not EVER demand a customer buy another product to play a game they JUST spent money on. No. I have never in my life been angered by a support person in my life, and I’ve been dealing with Riot support.
The support staff seems great at responding to people here, I am not saying things about that, but the way it was dealt with erked me. I’ve worked in support before, it’s not fun, but the way I was handled so negatively and brashly makes me angry.

I paid for a game and cannot play it because you won’t even give me a chance to play it? Okay. Whatever, be a prick, but seriously? You demand I buy something after I had just spent money on your game, that turns me off and is not good “support,” if you could even call what I got support. I was shot down before I was even helped. Thanks.
