Punishing burst without a more reliable means of defeating a bunker is not balance. If anything it sounds like a knee-jerk reaction.

I know this is a troll thread. But I also know that some good warriors will chuckle to themselves and look at this thread. Anywho, the situation.

Any good warrior knows that his worst fight are against foes that slow his movement, burst him down from range, teleport, and can stealth. [Going to not mention perma-buff foes since they are supposedly getting nerfed, so it excludes Guardians and Elementalist.]

Mainly I’m talking about the Mesmer and Thief class. These guys burst pretty kitten hard, can keep me at bay with any movement impairment skills and kill me, or, I get them to a point where I may win and they just pop their escape skills, which will not work the other way should I try to get away.

I’m not talking about new or bad players either, I could stomp bad thieves and mesmers all day. I can spot a real mesmer from a crowd of clones in no time [but not without getting hurt/ crippled in the process]. I know if they immobilize me they are going to do a burst or run, and I know how to respond accordingly, but I’ll either not have the ability to keep them in place long enough to do decent damage, or the means to outlive their damage.

Bursting them is also exceptionally hard. No thief goes anywhere without Shadowstep or some form of stealth. And mesmers don’t go anywhere without their Blink, and their built-in distortion [and sometimes Phase Retreat, I don’t even know why a Weapon Skill has that, but that is a different discussion]. I am also more than likely to be crippled in the confrontation, further hindering my melee.

I’m not saying I should win every fight, but kitten There are times when warrior just cannot cut it.

Anyways, suggestions, thoughts? Are we badly designed? Is thief and mesmer badly designed? Both?

I guess Anet is okay with how things are right now. I guess they’re alright with classes that can shut you down with enough conditions while you swing your weapon helplessly.

I guess that they are okay with how classes can runaway, negating most, if not all damage that they receive while be blow our lengthy utilities/ adrenaline to stand a chance.

example:
SURE HOPE NOTHING TRIES TO BURST ME FOR NINETY SECONDS WHILE I WAIT FOR ENDURE PAIN TO RECHARGE.

or.

UH OH, I HAVE BEEN CHILLED AND IMMOBILIZED, AND AM ABOUT TO EAT SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE FROM THE ENEMY TEAM! TOO BAD I USED MENDING FOR THE HEAL, AND SHAKE IT OFF ONLY REMOVES ONE CONDITION!

And then.

I’LL USE SHIELD STANCE TO SURVI-[Wail of Doom].
(Alternatively, it would buy five seconds of going nowhere fast.)

Honestly? Everyone knows when you go out there as Warrior, you’re out there. No teleports, no stealth, nothing. The whole sturdy body concept goes out the window when two guys are peppering you with ranged damage while we run at/ away like the big target we are.

There are so many ways to shutdown warrior, it’s just getting old, and I’m starting to get the feeling Anet doesn’t know how to balance it out. Or give any kind of reassurance beyond, “NEXT PATCH, FOR SURE!”

Jade Maw - Charr Form

My party and I had been stuck in Charr form during the Jade Maw instance of fractals [how or why this happens, I don’t know]. As you know the Charr form prevents you from picking up things like banners and the all important reflect crystals.

However, by use of the Warrior elite skill Rampage, you can pick up the crystals and launch them at Jade Maw for the duration of the transformation. I don’t know if it works for other transforms, but it definitely worked there. Hopefully this helps anyone else in a similar situation.

Note: Defeating the tentacles causes them to withdraw and damages Jade Maw slightly. Save Rampage until the final blast where it causes a team wipe otherwise.
