Quit complaining. People these days expecting everything given to them.
Given? You’re either a troll or wheelchair level disabled.
No one is whining about not being given a free ride or whatever. No, I paid enough dosh to buy 2 expansions worth of content. If the obscenely low drop rates had been published I wouldn’t have bothered. If the drop rates were better, I wouldn’t be so irritated because I’d have gotten more for my money than 1 skin and 54 fireworks. I paid more for that skin than I would have for a Digital Deluxe copy of the original game…
To re-itterate, for clarity. I wanted one thing out of this event, as I have from most prior events, to consider it “complete” for me. Some kind of cosmetic skin unique to the event that would fit my character. I don’t care for the look of the wings or the helm so I set my sights on a Jade weapon skin. Having bypassed the majority of these in the past, I didn’t realize exactly what kind of disappointment I was setting myself up for.
So to start I decided to do a little experiment and spent $75USD + Tax on Gems, exchanged them for Rich coffers, and got one (1) weapon skin, two (2) pets and nothing else of note.
Two expansions worth of dosh = 1 skin.
Based on those odds, my new sword is worth about as much as digital delux version of the original game, in Anet’s reasoning.
In my time playing GW2, I have no doubt that I’ve spent a few hundred bucks on gems for character slots, bank slots, bag slots, mini-pets, dye packs, costumes and random other goodies. I have felt that the enterprise of GW2 was one worth supporting and I felt that I was getting value out of my investment in gems both in terms of immediate reward and supporting future content, especially considering the lack of a monthly fee for enjoying the game.
But even a Koolaid drinking fan like me has got to draw the line somewhere. I can honestly say, based on this experience that I will not ever be doing a cash shop gamble again and probably won’t purchase anything at all for several months at the least. I’ll also go out of my way to tell others to do the same. As much as I’ve enjoyed these seasonal events and living story elements, I have no gotten a full expansions worth of content out of them, much less two, and the cost is just too high.
I got 75 Rich chests off the TP (Appreciate that this is roughly $75 USD)
Results:
1 Ticket
2 Pets
931 candy
56 Fireworks
Misc stat food (total value <1g on the TP)In case anyone needed some perspective.
You can’t buy “rich” coffers on the TP. Only the regular ones.
We’ve already established the regular coffer rate as being abysmal.
I mean Black Lion. It’s the same hotkey as the TP so I don’t really establish a difference, beyond using another type of currency.

Engi’s Slick Shoes can make Moa’s fall over.
kitten son, you wasted a lot of gems
Yeah, what I’m getting at is that chests are the highest yield source of candy available.. and at 3500/day needed to get the unbroken wings.. still a HORRIBLE way to do it.
75 USD got me about 70 candy shy of the 1/100 Jombreakers needed.
I got 75 Rich chests off the TP and opened them with 100 MF (though I doubt that matters).

Ding ding!
I also find it unfair that we are being pigeon holed into what ANet wanted the mesmer to be. Actually, with all these ridiculous changes (mostly nerfs) back to back, they didn’t even know what they wanted. Seems like we have more than worked wonders for this class, and because of some spvp and wvw issues, everyone has to suffer. Anymore negative changes, and you might as well call us useless.
Time Warp. Feedback. Nul Field. Illusion of Life. Portal still shines when you do it right. Stuff like that.
But seriously, beyond that one elite and a few utility skills I’m hard pressed to think of a reason I’d want a Mesmer in my group over a Guardian, Ele, or Ranger.
Weren’t Mesmer already the lowest population class?
Not to feed the fire of this tangent, but that heartseeker “nerf” was pretty universally panned as being ineffective.
The stuff that makes Mesmer identification ridiculously easy for anyone with 2 or 3 firing neurons.
The one that grinds my gears the most has got to be our downed state.
Everyone and their mother can see that the real Mesmer has a big red KILL ME arrow over him. We’re not fooling anyone.
I already have my 100% map completion on hold because of that stupid star. The illusion mechanic is the core of our class and yet there are half a dozen really blatant ways to identify the real Mesmer from his “clones”. Maybe we could spend some time working on that rather than arbitrarily adding 50% to the cooldown on a utility skill?
In W3 run GS & S / F phantasm build with mostly knights gear. Pretty far from glass cannon seeing as Toughness is pretty much my most dominant stat.
The nerf hurts me, arguably, more than glass cannons because my damage wasn’t exactly stunning to begin with. Now I’m just feeling like an ineffective bunker build where previously I could win a battle of attrition with Zerker spike damage and clever play.
My assumption at this point is that we should be porting people through the jump puzzle for a donation of the occasional siege piece, then just planting and manning them 24/7.
I’m honestly open to some kind of treaty or alliance between Yak’s Bend and Gates of Madness. I’m not a commander, but I think unite-and-conquer might be the way to go here. But even then, with both servers so savagely demoralized…
if I see this situation exactly the same at the end of the week, you can bet hell will be raised on these forums. And not just by me.
So maybe now is a good time to try out the reason ANet pitted 3 servers together? If it works, then I’ll love it. Otherwise, I don’t see what the point of playing that mode is.
The best example of 3v3 large scale pvp I’ve seen to date was RFOnline, a Korean grindfest with a brilliant soundtrack and some outstanding concept and art direction. What made it work is that ad hoc alliances were formed to keep one faction from getting too much ground too long (and it worked for a pretty long time too), but this was made much easier in that the three factions represented were very visually distinct and leveling took so bloody long that when you had a competative level character of one faction or the other you were invested in that factions success.
ANet has some really good ideas here but when the community and their affiliations are in a constant state of migration and when one red name looks so much like any other red name.. challenges are presented.
It looks like the same for every tier from the score screenshots I have seen thus far.
The consensus atm sure does seem to be that W3 sucks everywhere. Only the bottom 3 brackets aren’t looking at 100k+ blowouts. They just have 50k blowouts, lol.
Free transfers need to stop.
Not stop. But made to be 1 per Char.
Or make it so anyone that does World Trans. can’t join WvW till the following week. Unless brought back to the original home world.Otherwise. If Yaks got there kitten together (And GoM) they’d be able to do something.
Still not a solution. What’s to stop 40% of the servers W3 pop from moving to which ever server won the last round at the begining of the week every week (which is pretty much what happens right now with no limitations)?
I get that the guesting service is broken but lets be honest, I’ve met maybe 1 person on an overflow that I’ve actually been compelled to group with after the fact and that was in the beta. Also, I haven’t actually PVEed on an overflow outside the first week or so post-launch (because no one is clustered up in PVE zones anymore and because overflow play doesn’t count toward guild influence on your server so why bother).
So who cares if guesting is broken? I wouldn’t be using it if it worked anyway and neither would most other people.
Free transfers were supposed to be a stopgap until guesting got less broken but all it’s done is assure that right now the bulk of the community (myself included) feels no specific attachment toward any one server or another because the entire system is so fluid. It’s a failure in design and the problem will not self correct.
I actually want to transfer right now because w3 on my server is functionally dead and will be into the foreseeable future but there’s no where to go where this won’t be a problem.
It is a fantastic buff…for PvE. I think they expect people who are outmanned to go farm the creatures in the WvW zones…
I suppose you can look at it that way, but when I see Outmanned my first thought is to go solo Yaks and supply camps or fight frogs / dredge in EBG. That may be PVE but it’s still PVP proactive PVE.
