Hello everyone. I’m new to GW2 and looking for help choosing a profession. I am going to spend 90% of my time PVPing and don’t know hardly anything about how the professions or elite specs play in PVP.

I am really looking for the profession that has a lot of CC and disables for the enemy. I like to control a fight.

The professions I know I don’t want to play are the elementalist and mesmer. So out of the rest of them which is best at controlling the fight?

Hello everyone. I’m returning to GW2 after a few years off. I played the base game at release but have not played much since then. I do not have HOT and therefore have no experience with any of the new elite specializations.

I’m excited to jump back in and level a new character but would like your help choosing a profession.

An important thing to note is that I focus mainly on PVP gameplay so please keep that in mind when suggesting a profession. I enjoy both structured and WVW.

Here is what I generally enjoy in a character. They are ordered most important to least important:

- Mostly melee but some ranged options are nice
- Hard to kill
- Lots of CC, interrupts, disabling abilities
- Capable when solo
- Strong against the mage type professions
