So I started a new character for the first time since the update.
It’s such a boring experience. The thing I loved the most about the game was how much fun I had levelling. The game started at level 10, instead of level 80.

Now it’s a complete grind, like every other generic f2p mmo, and that makes me sad. I don’t know who could possibly have thought pushing traits back to 30 was a good idea.

So I just rolled a new character for the first time since I started a few weeks ago.
I didn’t realise that you can’t even view your traits at low level. That’s ridiculous.

Unless you look up a character builder online, you cannot plan anything about your class beyond your skills. That means new players are completely in the dark on what equipments they should be using until whenever the traits tree unlocks (which I assume is level 30) unless they seek advice from other players or use third party tools.

That annoys me.

It’s a bit boring to wait for 30 for trait points, in fact it might turn new players away from the game, a very bad thing.

Maybe, have the new trait progression start earlier, like level 15 or 20,
with a tutorial mail sent to explain about them, to new players?

Definitely explain about the use of traits,
that you can respec at any time for free, and how to get new grandmaster traits.
That way new people know what they are for, if they’re confused or something.

I started playing after the most recent sale. If this new trait system had been in place then, I wouldn’t have bothered playing to level 30. Playing at low level was more fun in this game pre-patch than any other mmo I’ve played, but now it feels like a huge grind.

I started playing after the sale, and I found the game to be very enjoyable because my character grew more powerful each level due to the trait system.
Because of this, I played a lot of world vs world and edge of the mists. I reached level 47 pre-patch, and I was really enjoying these game modes because I could actually make a difference in a fight, and hold my own against actual level 80s one on one.

Now it feels like the game will be a grind, at level 47 post patch I’m nearly as useless as I was at level 15 pre-patch. If I had started playing under the new trait system, I probably would have given up after a few days. It feels like there is no reward to levelling until you hit level 30. There’s no sense of gratification.
Getting to max level feels like it will be a huge grind, just like every other mmo.

Poor UI Design on the new Traits Panel

I started playing the game after the most recent sale. As soon as I jumped in, I understood the trait ui. I found it to be clean and simple, and had no trouble understanding it.

The changes made in the patch has definitely made it more confusing for me. It takes much longer to see which major traits I will be unlocking as I level.
On top of that I’m level 47 and had spent 25 points in my traits, yet that somehow equates to only 3 trait points post patch?
Now I’m nearly as useless in wvw as I was when I was level 15.
Before I didn’t feel like the game was a grind at all, but now it seems as though getting to 80 is not going to be such an enjoyable experience.
