Generally, in most fantasy environments, pollen is just a catch-all for “magic dust” (i.e. Tinkerbell), or mind-control, etc, and doesn’t really represent actual pollen in any way, considering sometimes it’s generally female characters (i.e. Poison Ivy).

I mostly wanted to play them just because they are really unique in MMOs. Yes, they’re elvish/fey, but they’re a unique take on it that I really like.

I think they’re adorable in their mannerisms for the most part too.

Also as someone mentioned upthread: Bioluminescence! That was a fun bonus I didn’t know about until I went to make mine! Then I spent a good 20 minutes trying to decide what color to make her glow.

There has actually been some heated debates about D***y Hooves name. It’s considered an ableist slur, and even though it’s her name, that doesn’t make it unoffensive. Considering the original intent of the word was to make fun of the disabled, I can totally side with Arenanet on this issue, and considering I am myself disabled, I am quite glad they are actively working to make the forums (and game!) a safe space for everyone.

Back on topic, I had the same issue occur with that exact Sylvari face. I immediately rerolled her and left the eyes alone, and didn’t have that issue again. It seems to happen if you make any changes to the eyes at all on that particular face. Luckily, she’s pretty adorable just the way she is, so I didn’t really feel I had to change her too much.
