Fixing CoF, includes more buffs

If you guys are truly trying to make Magg’s path harder consider these ideas:

1) In the first room, space out the 3 mobs more and maybe add devourer nests.

2) Have the first mini-boss spawn his giant devourers at 75%, 50%, and 25%, with a short enrage timer for the devourer if it doesn’t go down and for the boss when it does go down.

3) Take out the elite mobs in Magg’s magmacyte search and add flame turrets and/or fireballs, also punish players more who can’t move in a group to dodge the fire.

And now for things that clearly need fixing, don’t try to call me bad or say you did it in a pug because the gauntlet before the final boss is impossible without kiting the mobs. Which still will kill you kiting or not.

We tried to kill the mobs, guardian pulls in them in and we aoe burn them, doesn’t work. We tried switching to all dps spec and gear, still don’t die in time for the next wave. So eventually it’s 6( 3 weak guys) vs 5, and then 10 vs 5, and then 15 vs 5 and we get smashed so badly it’s not even possible. Sure we completed it twice, after failing the event nearly 12 times.

Sure extending the time on it is a good idea in paper, extend it to 300 for all I care, but what doesn’t work is keeping the spawns at the same rate. Give us atleast some kind of chance to burn the mobs down before the next group spawns, or spawn them 1 by 1 so it’s not an AI zerg fest on the light armor/nearest guy/first to hit when the new mobs spawn, that way we could have a chance to cc them while we deal with the current mob.

Or start off with the 3 mobs and then at 15% 1 mob, 30% 2 mobs, 45% 3 mobs, 60% 4 mobs, 75% 5 mobs, 90% 6 mobs that need to be killed in order to complete the gauntlet.

If you want it to be difficult have the wall above you drop rocks on you while the current mob puts up walls/void zones, be creative with Magg’s boomstick.

I saw that post, and now that I think about it, combining both systems, Skill progression from 30-80 and more skills and I have talked about would be really good, after 30 you could begin to unlock ‘Class Skills’ Instead of your slot skills.

In the eyes of most this will be more than likely be another blah blah more weapons blah blah no skills blah blah post but hear me out.

One of the main reasons I really enjoyed playing GW was the fact that over 2 professions you nearly had 300/400 skill combos that you could choose for your 8 slots. This was amazing, and I spent a ton of time just looking at the skills to see what fun and interesting builds I could come up with. Now I know that this many skills involves an enormous amount of balancing, and the balancing never stopped.

What I’m suggesting for gw2 is not adding so many skills like guild wars had, but atleast like 4 more variations on each skill slot. Choosing ele for an example might be a bad one since they have the 4 attunements, but take scepter fire for example, #2 dragon’s tooth, I think an arcane version that you could sub in for fire that adds confusion to the mob hit would be awesome even though it would totally go against the fire specialization, unless of course you have an arcane version for every attunement.

Now before I lose my train of thought, I’m just trying to say although 5 skills for each weapon is great and provides great balance, (here goes my train of thought sorry if I drop points and begin new ones) maybe something like the 5 per weapon is PvP only, and the new skills are PvE versions only, which would reduce the need for much balancing. Here’s another thought, each weapon has its 5 main skills that are found on its weapon currently, but could be subbed out on spots 2-5 for ‘class skills’, these could be more utility, heals, damaging, conditions, etc etc. Allowing for the player to customize how they like to play even greater, much like GW1 was where if you wanted to stack blindness on an on ele, you had 5 choices + 2 elites and you could pick from.

I have to end here, my music destroyed what ever ideas I had going.

Please expand on this idea more for whoever read down to here, I’ll come back sooner or later and I would love to see discussion on this topic, with whatever ideas you also have.

Also allowing people to move around their skills would be very nice, such as having your heal on #2, now I know this might not currently be possible. But with the slot skills for 2-5 idea I have above I believe it would work.
