Like others mentioned before, server population imbalance is something we have to address. And what leads to that? I think it’s the scoring system and basically rankings based on scores.
Rankings based on scores can be a good motivation for players to join in w3 to pvp and in a way matching up servers against each other.
The problems arises when everyone wants to win and will rather sit in a queue on a winning server than to transfer off to a lower pop mid tier servers. Coupled with free transfers and can’t bring over guild upgrades has escalated this problem.
One way to solve it is to completely remove the scoring system temporarily or don’t announced it and show it to everyone. Keep it for yourself to do more data collection for now until the servers are more balanced and you remove the free transfers. This way, no one is going to be 1st, 2nd or 3rd and will pvp for the sake of pvp and having fun and let the servers balanced out cause there is no longer a point for people to sit in queue for such a long period of time just to joine pvp in w3. Let’s face it, people generally wants to be on the winning team.
They can also match up servers according to queue time instead of scores as well.
Nevertheless, game is great and I really enjoy it! Gj to everyone.
Question: Can we get exp/ karma by retaking a keep right after it was captured by the enemy? If so what will happen if 2 servers ally up and keep on trading the keeps/ castles for extra fast exp/ karma? I wonder how long it will take for people to do that.
I totally agree on removing the score system. Everyone is so fixated on the scores now as everyone likes to win and no one likes to loose and the scores actually enhanced this feeling. (can see all the bickering going on with all those threads)
I would recommend they introduce personal and guild ranking system in wvw like titles and cosmetic stuff and not stats/ damage/ skill improving rewards. Keep all current castles/ keeps/ supplies but instead of giving scores, it rewards points to those that are involved in participating in the event of capturing and defending.
Killing opposition players also will give points but this has to be balanced out as well like killing a higher rank players will reward more points than killing lower ranks. Those titles replace (invaders). It will be interesting to deduct points to those who died to other players as well as one can actually loose your rank.
These are just some ideas to replace the current score system to bring fun to pvp and some rewards as well.
Really if SBi and HoD have any pacts or alliance, JQ will be playing around their spawn points only for the entire week. I’m on SBI and I fought mostly HoD every single day the entire week and occasionally with JQ when they Zerg in in force. HoD played and organised really well in both offence and defence. They always make an effort to guard and defend what they conquered and won’t let go easily without a fight and we need to learn from them. Great week of pvp and good job!
