Ranger Bugs (Updated)

Not sure if this is only ranger specific but when I’m using traps sometimes when a trap goes off it causes my game sound to stop working. Normally I would just play without sound however, when this bug occurs my frame rate starts to slowly drop and after a min or two the game is unplayable. It’s fairly rare and if I knew how to recreate it I would give that information but I haven’t been successful yet.

Anyone else experiencing this?

That’s actually a bug I get relatively often lately, but with different classes. I’ve never been able to spot a pattern, so I suspect it’s not triggered by player actions as such (sometimes all I do is move, for example). Although I don’t use traps very often with ranger, so I suppose I could test that.

For me, the frequency of the bug seems to depend on updates to the game. Sometimes I don’t see it for months and other times, like now, it happens 2-3 times a week.

the best stress reduction system for your arm is already there! play less.

Sure, but when it only happens with one game then it seems logical that there’s something about that game which causes it, more than just playing time (considering I have spent as much time on other games).

anyway, play around with your settings because when i rightclick my mouse and release my camera stays where it is and i walk sideways from my camera. use arrow buttons to move around instead.

That’s kind of the problem; what I want a toggle for is the mode you get when you hold the right mouse button down, i.e. the one where you can turn the camera with the mouse.
The only times I don’t use it is when I do something in inventory or crafting stations and such, so that means I have to hold the button down pretty much constantly.
That is rather different than most other games.

pong was great wasnt it.

It didn’t really make much of an impression on me, actually. A friend and I spent about ten minutes on it before we went back outside to play.
(I hope his parents’ had more fun with it because it must have been rather expensive back then).

Search for immersive combat mod on google, it’s a mouse lock – action like mod for gw2, something that should be native but arenanet don’t have a general ui team.

Thanks. I’ll take a look.

(I imagine this has been suggested before, but either search doesn’t work or people aren’t talking much about the camera at all because I can’t find posts about it).

I’ve played computer games rather a lot for over 30 year now and have never had any of them cause physical problems. The most has been some slight wrist ache after thousands of hours of right-clicking in Minecraft.

GW2 does cause pretty severe pain in my right arm, however. Granted, I have played a lot and I’m not getting any younger either, but still, it does seem like GW2 is special in that respect and I’m pretty sure it’s due to having to hold down the right mouse button so much.

Would it be possible to implement a (rebindable) camera toggle key? And perhaps an optional mouse method where a single right-click locks the camera, another right-click frees it again, while holding the button down works as it does now.
(Obviously, the current method should be available unchanged too because that’s what people are used to).

I think that could save a lot of stress on my arm.

ow. I didn’t know they counted as a crafting material (and I can’t believe I didn’t check my bank either).

All present and accounted for. Thank you!

I have had something similar a couple of times, with the difference that the game gets slower and slower when the sound is looping, so it’s eventually unplayable.
I also can’t kill it in the taskmanager (but then, win8’s taskmanager sucks) and have to reboot.

Both times it happened just as I came out of caves, but I don’t know if that’s significant.

It’s also only happened twice in the three weeks I’ve been playing (and I’ve been playing rather a lot).

It seems like something people are fairly familiar with. I’ve seen it mentioned in in-game chat several times, at least.
I’d guess it’s probably some sound driver issue, but I don’t know. Might just be a random glitch.

Disappearing Candy Corn Cobs?

Over the past few days I’ve bought three Candy Corn Cobs from Sonder the Seller in Lion’s Arch with Sugar Candy. I’ve bought them one at a time, planning to save up three for a Halloween Pail, but the cobs keep disappearing from my inventory. I’ve never had two at the same time.
The first time I thought it was something I’d done myself (can’t really see what, though; they’re not consumable or salvageable), but now after three times, it seems rather like a bug.

I can’t tell exactly when they disappear because I don’t check them every time I open my inventory. It could be while I’m still in Lion’s Arch or outside.
I am wondering if they’re somehow marked as junk and so get sold off when I click the ‘sell junk’ at merchants. They don’t have a price listed in the hover popup, though. It’s just the only thing I can think of.

As far as I can tell nothing else has disappeared from my inventory in this time.

It’s getting a bit expensive (only played for three weeks, so I don’t exactly have gobs of money to spare).
