After numerous Vape encounters, trailblazer/dire builds whatsoever, random corpsejumping and insults by whisper for no reason – why do you even bother making videos? Most guilds already know you for being salty.
We have a lot of people who run a lot of different builds. Some are condi, so what?
The “random corpsejumping” is just for a laugh or for people who did it to us earlier.
And the “insults by whisper for no reason” are not true. If anything, we’re the ones who get these a lot.
We’re salty? I don’t know man, your comment seems pretty salty. You might want to have a glass of water to deal with all that salt. Maybe then you’ll be able to enjoy the game instead of being so salty.
What would make legendary players happy to keep playing the game? Is it just quicker queue times? What if you could do other things while waiting? What if there was something other than leagues all together like unranked arena that legendary players could go to until more players make it to legendary?
How about asking the question what would make all the ranked players happy to keep playing the game, cause right now I am disheartened and completely de-motivated by the system. Its making me hate spvp.
Why are you disheartened? Is it the inconsistency of match quality?
Pretty much. I have been in Tier 5 of emerald for almost 2 weeks now, although I haven’t played since Sunday (when I had 9 losses in a row) cause it was affecting me so badly I had to take a break. Its basically I keep getting 1-2 wins then have a succession of losses. After 1-2 wins I seem to: get placed with players who were in the teams I beat; players who are simply not very good; or get matched against teams who clearly have a significantly better mmr to the team I get matched with. This has happened consistently. I have tried grouping with others, I have tried playing stronghold rather than conquest, nothing has worked to get me to the next tier. Its grindy and the constant backsliding across a relatively long period is disheartening.
Maybe you could accept that you hit a wall because you’re not good enough yet. Instead of focusing on your team’s skill, you should focus on your own gameplay and try to improve as you can always improve even if you’re the best GW2 player. You will also have more fun this way, because at least you won’t be focusing on negative thoughts.
I’m afraid it’s actually just a l2p issue. If you try to bring another Ele and something like a necro, it’s obviously going to take forever to get a kill. This is a poor decision and has absolutely nothing to do with Ele being broken, but rather you being incompetent and playing into a bad matchup. This is an example that includes Ele. There are other bad matchups you should avoid like Thief into Scrapper. Obviously this is yet another poor decision and you will never be able to win this 1v1 as Thief and should instead make use of your mobility and stealth to both pressure the Scrapper to guard that point or risk getting decapped and +1 a fight somewhere else you can actually be helpful to your team. I don’t know why I bothered to type all of this, but trust me it’s a l2p issue.
No. Because team fights without team support is going to be boring with everyone dying fast. Longer team fights are more skillful and require you to make more decisions. Just simply killing the only real support build in this meta is not a smart choice.
To summarize the issues people have brought up:
An accurate ladder rewards skill at the cost of queue time.
Reducing queue time would require frustrating players with imbalanced matches (either by skill, or just visual ladder badge).
Making the ladder more about grind gets more players to legendary, but there is no prestige. What would make legendary players happy to keep playing the game? Is it just quicker queue times? What if you could do other things while waiting? What if there was something other than leagues all together like unranked arena that legendary players could go to until more players make it to legendary?
I agree that sometimes it’s better to make the queue a bit longer in order to have more balanced matches. Waiting 5 or maybe even 10 minutes to get a more fair match is ok. But when the queue time starts surpassing the time you spend in an actual match is when it stops being ok in my opinion. This is true because during queue time, what can you do? Stare at your screen while waiting in Heart of the Mists? Are we supposed to find something else to do while we’re trying to play a game? Maybe after a 10 minute queue you should just make it so that it matches with whoever is closest to your MMR, instead of prolonging the queue time forever.
And I think that this issue would be solved if you simply just enabled us PvPers to do something while we’re waiting for a queue pop. Allow duelling in Heart of the Mists in form of 1v1 and even 2v2. This would not only be good practice and warm up for actual PvP but a good and fun way to spend time as a dedicated PvPer.
But maybe this would eventually stop being enough for some people. So you could also enable us to do more things, give us more options. Such as doing open world PvE content and even WvW. This would be really hard to implement, I get that. But high mmr players get so bored once they reach high mmr and the really long queue times that they just stop doing PvP. If they had more things to do instead of just waiting for endless queues, maybe more would be willing to queue.
I’m a high mmr player and I see this issue where people reach Legendary division and stop caring for pips altogether. Some do this to the point they start playing really bad while saying they do not care, going afk, trolling, just creating a negative environment among players. If you made it so that Legendary division would be ranked by some sort of rating instead of pips, make it visible for everyone to see it, it would become more serious, more competitive and then rewarded the players for their efforts with something other than llamas I could see it get more interesting in high mmr. At the moment I think that a lot of players reach Legendary division and then kinda give up on PvP and stop playing it as much or at all.
TLDR: Anet please start encouraging players to be more competitive in Legendary division. It should help making people actually want to queue for PvP high mmr and be excited to play it. This should also encourage lower division players to play more and try to climb to Legendary division. And if you’re really going to make us wait for long queues, at least enable us to do something fun while we wait.
Reading some of these posts is hilarious. If you think that power rev doesn’t need nerfs you’re delusional. But even if we did nerf power rev, anet would also have to nerf other builds. Thief isn’t meta, but if power rev didn’t exist can you imagine how ridiculous thief would be? Simply nerfing a single build won’t make pvp balance magically better, considering the problem with pvp balance is bigger than that at this point. Also, the problem with power rev isn’t just the numbers of dmg rev can put out, it’s also and mostly the class design that is the problem. And in my opinion, the same can be said about quite a few other classes (by the way Dragonhunter is far from being one of those, when in fact, I would probably rate Dragonhunter just a bit above warrior at this point).
There are many players that are well known by the pvp community as people that just ragequit / afk / trashtalk almost every game…. Leeto, Prince Vingador, among others are obvious examples. I’m pretty sure that people like this have been reported multiple times already and nothing has been done. I think this thread isn’t going to change it, unfortunately. But here I am, posting this with hope of change. Anet please.
Thanks a lot for the fast response and fix! I’m impressed :O
If I know of other people having this issue, I’ll tell them to post here.
I have “Match Ready” window stuck in the center of my screen and can’t get past it… Until this gets fixed, I can’t play GW2
So is this a bug or a feature? I had gotten used to using it a lot, and having it just taken away from me is quite annoying. I need to at least know if it’s going to get reversed or what is going on :/
I most certainly hope this isn’t an intended change… I, as many others, have gotten used to using this a lot and changing it without even announcing anything about it is a real game changer for people like me, I’m sure. Now let’s just hope they revert it back asap.
what the hell this is 3 months old?? this has to be a joke… why is this still not fixed
Are they going to fix this bug? It’s frustrating….
I was thinking the same until this happened to me… so far what I can take from this is that the best thing is to avoid using the LFG and just make groups with guildies only… they probably won’t get punished for that and might do it again… I guess that’s it really….
Me and my guildie got kicked from the group in the end right before final boss went down… asked them why. Was told it was because I’m bad and to l2p… they were jerks… we were never rude to them or anything like that…
Is there any way for me to find their guild leader / officers and tell them about this so they deal with them in someway? Because if people don’t get punished for doing this type of thing, they will just find another way of doing it eventually….and I really wish justice would be served.
Players kicking other players in the final boss…This needs to stop. I’ve heard of people having this happen to them and tonight it just happened to me… this is pretty upsetting and very annoying. I did report them ingame but I know nothing will probably happen to them anyway… what can I do to make justice happen? Also how can we get rid of this issue?
