Yeah, chasing achievement points isn’t a great goal, especially in multiplayer. Think of it less like a to do list and more like a journal. What you didn’t do is sometimes just as important as what you did do.

I suppose so. I mean… I’m still flustered. And that probably won’t change any time soon. But I suppose I should just… learn to ignore it.

At least it seems I’m getting a great chance to jump back in with the upgraded Super Adventure Box.

It’s the layout, really. It’s just… an eyesore now. And this is quite simply just in the achievements tab. Everything else is fine. I love the new wallet feature. And I’m sure I could wrap my head around it if I spent a couple hours navigating through the achievements tab and comparing what I know I have to what I don’t. It’s just troublesome, really.

And my issue with the limited time items is not that they are limited time and no longer available to me, it is quite simply the fact that I missed so many of them. I’m a collector of sorts. I got busy with real life and missed so much due to the rapid release of all this stuff that has the potential to be awesome. I’ll never know because I missed it all. The quantity of everything I missed in a short timeframe is really what gets to me.

I am incredibly overwhelmed. The new UI confuses and frustrates me when I try to navigate the achievement panel, so I don’t even try anymore. And it’s not that I don’t like seeing people, I just don’t like seeing ONLY people. Can’t see anything in Lion’s Arch EXCEPT for players.

And it’s not even about an advantage when it comes to the living stories. It’s quite simply this: I like achievements. I like them very much. I like to collect special limited time things like skins. I like to experience special events. And in order to do that, one must do nothing but play GW2. God forbid they take a kitten break for a bit so people can catch their breath. And if you get busy in real life for even a little bit, just forget about trying to keep your head above water.

This isn’t a troll post. Not at all. I’m simply voicing my opinion on what the game is and what it used to be.

I completed almost all of Frost and Flame. Enjoyed it, even. I was saddened when I remembered that the only thing I missed was the ceremony at the very end. I thought “You know, that was a very unique thing that they just did, and I enjoyed it. I hope they do more of these from time to time.”

Instead, there were several, one right after another. Instead of seeing a bunch of unique stories, I saw busy work. I now had a Guild Wars 2 honey-do list. I saw so much new stuff dropping in the wrong places and at the wrong frequency. There is so much new stuff that comes and goes, yet it feels like the old stuff isn’t touched any more. I was hoping that by the time I could get back into the game, I’d see things like more fractals or an updated Super Adventure Box.

The main point I’m trying to get at is this: After being busy with real life for a few months, I come back to GW2 and am lost, confused, and heartbroken about what the game has become.

Soo… I am very confused. And irritated. And sad. I have many emotions when it comes to Guild Wars 2 nowadays, and unfortunately, none of them are positive.

I’ve been playing this game for a while now. Picked it up a month or two after release. Played the hell out of it, got a couple 80s out of the deal. Loved the game so very much, even considered it my favorite MMO of all time.

Then an unfortunate thing happened: Real life caught up with me. Due to real life being a general pain, I had to stop playing while I sort things out. Ended up having to move to a different state and get resettled, so on and so forth.

So, a few months later, I decide to play some Guild Wars 2 again. I sit through the patch with excitement as I eagerly await the chance to be behind the wheel of my favorite characters again.

Finally, the play button pops, and I click it and hop onto my warrior. And that is when my heart sank. Suddenly, I had missed so much of these weird micro-expansion things that appear to always be going on now. I was unable to log in without getting assaulted by these achievement chests that neither give me anything useful or make me feel like I did ANYTHING to deserve it. I won’t even try to look at my achievements anymore because whenever I do, I have no idea what is going on due to the UI change and the clogging of all these micro-expansions. I try to walk through Lions Arch a bit, but can’t really get anywhere because there are about 5 million people around occupying space and making it hard to see anything.

I dunno. I used to adore this game, but now I can’t even bring myself to stay logged in for more than half an hour a week. And that breaks my heart because this game used to be so good. For discussions sake, I guess… does anyone else remotely feel this way?

Haha, someone’s grasping at straws here.

There is a difference between using something for its intended purpose and abusing something. You want to mount your cat, by all means, please do so. Better be one big kitten cat.

You ride it. It is therefore a mount.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/mount?s=t

“a horse, other animal, or sometimes a vehicle, as a bicycle, used, provided, or available for riding.”

The broom is a mount by pure definition of the word “mount” in the english language. Cosmetic or not is not important, it is still a mount.

Learn the language you speak, people.

Regardless… you’re technically not riding anything. You’re still walking, but with a different animation. The walk/run key still functions even. :P

Is this a car?

Car =/= mount.

By definition, that is not a car. It does classify as a mount, however, because it has a child riding it. Doesn’t matter how it’s powered. Whether it has legs of its own, runs off of a motor, or is powered by your own legs. A bicycle is still considered a mount, and by this logic, so would this.

And I agree with this. Never seen one in game, but I did at least watch the video in the OP and it is a cosmetic mount. I would love to see more implemented in the future.

As I said, I was simply debating the difference between the two. GW2 mounts are (and hopefully stay that way) completely cosmetic. WoW mounts were completely NOT cosmetic.

Just because it doesn’t give you an edge in combat doesn’t mean it’s cosmetic. To make this simple, I provide source.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cosmetic?s=t

“used or done superficially to make something look better, more attractive, or more impressive: Alterations in the concert hall were only cosmetic and did nothing to improve the acoustics.”

Cosmetics serve absolutely no purpose other than appearance. The moment it does ANYTHING other than just sit there and look awesome, it no longer qualifies as “cosmetic”.

So your trying to say, because the broom moves around and looks awesome….it’s not cosmetic….that’s some serious clutching at straws there my friend…

P.S. It’s still a mount. :P

That is opposite of what I’m saying. perhaps the phrase “SIT there and look awesome” was a poor choice of words on my part. But it does not provide any stat change, nor does it move faster than normal movement speed or fly. No change to weapon or utility skills. It does nothing to change performance whatsoever except look like something different. Therefore, it IS cosmetic.

I’m not saying it isn’t a mount. I am simply debating the difference between “cosmetic mount” and “mount” because there is a huge difference between the two.

Soulbound/account bound items are not allowed to the best of my knowledge. And as far as what’s safe in there, it depends on the settings of the guild. Who can and can’t deposit/withdraw from the guild bank based on guild rank.

PvP in PvE?

Now, I’m not sure I’m reading this right. If what you’re talking about would just turn a PvP flag on or off for you, I’m fine with that. However, if it just makes you able to attack things and be attacked… Please god no. I can just see this being abused by groups of players.

I didn’t say Town Clothing has a timer. The Riding Broom itself has a timer. You can only ride on the Broom for a limited time, not permanently.

And in WoW, you can take several shots before you are knocked off your mount. Sometimes you get knocked off instantly, other times you can ride on forever without being dismounted. But in GW2, in your Town Clothing on your Broom, if you get hit even once or get into combat in any way, you automatically switch to your gear, losing your Broom.

Well, riding the witch’s broom acts as a costume brawl skill, we’ll need to wait and see if the next broom is also a brawling skill, which I highly doubt. If they do finally add mounts in the future, I highly doubt they’ll tied to brawler skills either, rather they’d be an actual cosmetic change.

And I must be the unluckiest WoW player, because in the five years I played, I’ve always been knocked of my mount when something attacked me, plus I can’t use skills from the mount, which just enforces the idea that they’re no more than mere cosmetics, just like town clothes in GW2.

We can debate trivialities all day, but on both camps the facts are the same. GW2 treat the broom as a cosmetic item and WoW treat its mounts as cosmetic items.

WoW mounts were not cosmetic. They flew and offered a speed boost. They had a function, and are therefore not cosmetic.

Anyone knows about the human warrior set? I know it can be obtained in sPvP but is there any way to get the same skin in PvE?

The human warrior set from character creation is (I believe, I could very well be wrong on this) is the Mithril crafted heavy armor. I’m still running around with several pieces of this set as I work on gearing my warrior, minus my exotic karma chest piece and my transmorged rare leg piece.

I think the main thing here is the difference between “mount” and “cosmetic mount”.

GW2 doesn’t need mounts. The waypoint system is amazing, despite the fact that that money spent on WP warping adds up. WoW didn’t have that, so you either had to 1) Get on a mount 2) hop on a flight path or 3) Pay a mage for a portal. (I mained a mage in WoW, so hell yes, portals.)

I would, however, love to see cosmetic mounts in this game. Wouldn’t be that hard, I can see how it would easily work as a consumable item with unlimited uses. I would love to see some of the amazing creatures in this game parading around Lion’s Arch as mounts. Like a Karka or Devourer mount. Then, however, you have the problem of dismounting each time you go to a new area. But with cosmetic mounts, this is not really important.

Depends on how you plan on playing the warrior. I play mine as a tank, and have had a blast with it. My usual set is sword and board with a rifle in my alt weapon set. For utility skills, I use the Dolyak Signet, Bulls charge, Shake it off, and my racial Hounds of Balthazar.

Sir Roland Karloseth.3798

Greetings, adventurers! My name is Sir Roland Karloseth, and I just happen to be one of the bartenders for this fine establishment. Here at Fat Lute Tavern, we welcome all kinds of people that happen to walk through the front door. Err… most kinds. Excuse me for a moment.

There is a moment of silence as Roland slowly reaches beneath the counter and grabs his rifle. Once the finely crafted Krytan Rifle is firmly in his grasp, he yells out to the newcomer as he walks around the bar counter.

“Hey! No centaurs allowed! I just fixed up these floors after your last group thought it’d be a good idea to stampede through the place! Get out of here before I make you get out!”

The centaur laughed and stomped his hoof at this, scuffing one of the newly replaced floorboards. “You? Make me? I’d love to see you try with that puny rifle. I bet the sound won’t even draw the Seraph!”

Roland doesn’t respond vocally, he doesn’t need to. Instead, he Bull Charges straight at the centaur and squeezes off a couple shots as the horse beast lays on the ground. Once it got back up, Roland smacks the beast with the butt of his rifle, sending it reeling backwards through the door. At this point, the creature gave in and trotted away, yelling insults back over his shoulder at the warrior who liked to pour drinks in his downtime. As soon as Roland was sure the centaur was gone, he walked back behind the counter and replaced the rifle.

Anyway, now that that is over… As I was saying, we welcome most kinds. Charr, Sylvari, Asura, Human, Norn… All are welcome. Especially the Norn, they usually make for some good business. And have you seen those guys dance? I don’t know what kind of weird dance instructor they had, but once they pour a few rounds down in their faces, they just go at it! Quite funny to see, actually…

Anyway, I seem to be rambling. As the owner has previously said, We are pretty small in numbers right now. We intend to be focusing on all kinds of different things throughout Tyria: Storylines, dungeons, structured PvP, World vs. World, crafting professions, jumping puzzles, all that kind of stuff. Mainly we’re just a friendly group of people that are interested in meeting other friendly people.

You may message the owner or myself for an invitation anytime we are in game. Mail also works beautifully, as well as a simple response in this thread. Show us you’re interested and we can make it happen. Hope to see you soon!
