Explain the Flipside:
you started your ‘view’ as Guardian is bunk just becuase it doesnt have a ‘true’ escape skill compared to some other classes. The escape you say is mainly that if you clear it it easy to have another application before you can remove it again.
I know that there is 2 Rune sest that has a chance to remove conditions and the pure voice can be used 3 times if you have 3 shouts to use…all clear conditions and one shout gives you +30% run also (4 me 20s worth). Since the hammer has a root and KB + skills to apply quickness….escape is more situational than guaranteed anyways.
Solo:
I rarely lose 1 v 1 and the only times i cant get them is when they cc me and run themselves and cannot manage to snare them. Plus, quickness is funny. i either use the hammer combo to apply retaliation or pop a shout with it and watch them kill themselves faster.
Duo:
Well that is all who is your 2nd. for me it is either a ranger or a another hammer guardian. we never lose anyone to escape and only die when we get to kitteny and take on 5+ by ourselves.
5 man:
well i have rolled only a few times with guildies in a 5 man and mostly we cap small targets of opportunity…so we only meet 3 or less players. Just becuase i am a guardian i dont rush in solo ever. it is either me and 1 or 2 other melle will focus my target choice while ranged will cc and free cast. We bait them first to see who rushes since we all have a ranged weapon and i can root and vulnerable to boot. With warrior shout heals, guardian heals and my shout-hammer build we have enough to keep oursleves protected and healed and TS makes it easy to keep aware of protecting range and focusing. seems to me you dont have a good 5 man group and/or good builds to support each other….all glass cannon shiz i think.
20 man:
The few 20 mans i have done i admit i have died quite a few times or downed. All in the name of saving guildie to get range or escape the onlsaught.
your examples: Eles ride the lightning, thiefs hide, mesmers hide and distract, warriors pop imunity……. Dude…Save yourself is ok, but SYG is better, hammer RoW, staff LoW, Shield of absorbtion all work wonders to repel enemies when the do thier special rendering them ineffective. Sure, you dont always have 1 or 2 when you need it, but to say “Not US” or never is just wrong….flat out. I know becuase i use them tons…..and again group support helps big time too!
The Guardian is just fine without a true dash, blink, warp or teleport. It isnt the role of the class to have those. i mean other than the small minor ones… sword, GS, Hammer, 2 meditations and a shout (swiftness), if you are so bent on having an ability that can do that then go play one that does. Just dont say Guardians in WvWvW suck becuase we dont have that ability and that winning small fights is impossible cuase you dont have said ability. The video says otherwise, i am saying otherwise and other players who read and dont post will prolly say otherwise. I mean rarely is there a night that i dont make more $$ then i use to repair.
