Can anyone recommend a video or link to a page that will help me get back into the game and new systems?

A lot has changed since I last played regularly before HoT. I’ve logged in occasionally and for the first time yesterday saw the new Lion’s Arch. I was quite overwhelmed. I don’t know anything about these hero points or what’s happened to my skills, etc.

What I’m looking for is a clear and simple starting guide for returning players to get oriented to HoT. What should I do? Where should I go? What are the main changes to my character I should know about. Stuff like that.

I don’t know Carpboy. I wasn’t expecting that kind of beatdown. It happened so fast. I do know that I had trouble targeting him and I never had a chance to get my panic button elite skill off. It seems like he stealthed out and wound up behind me at one point.

I’m a noob, especially on my thief, and I haven’t played in a while. Seriously noob. I was wearing full Zho’s (I know) and had 2 pvt daggers. It works in pve for decent damage and survivability. But anyway, my set up was just bad. Also, I’m not skilled. But I’ve never been killed that fast on any other profession I’ve played.

So I jumped this guy, another thief, just to see what happened, win or lose, how it would go down. That’s how I learn. But the thing is, it happened too fast. It was over in about 5 seconds. He was behind a Dolyak when I jumped him, so I didn’t see whether he had a sword or dagger, but he did have a pistol. I heard that. I was dead and on the ground and he had about 80% health. Like I said, it took 5 seconds.

Any ideas what kind of traits and weapons that guy might have been running and what kind of gear would work well with a pistol + sword or dagger?

Is there a good site where I can get more in-depth info on current builds like that?

I have sufficient funds for both my cc and paypal but have been unable to purchase gems today. I get messages “failed” and something like unable to process transaction. I have bought gems in the past without any problem.

Might it have something to do with Digital River or the fact that my IP is in Asia? I have had problems making purchases through Digital River in the past for other games. Thank you.

I found this thread because I was a bit frustrated and looking for some tips on how to get the skill point. After reading the thread, I believed it was possible to just think about it and then go do it solo on my Norn Warrior.

So I set up my wurm summon, killed the mobs from a distance with my rifle, then ran up to the statue. The Risen Knight comes in and I summon the wurm and throw an axe at him. I see some red circles on the ground in front of the statue so I went over to the edge of the ledge just outside of his aoe. I don’t know what happened with the wurm. I just saw the Risen Knight go into a red ball which he holds for a few seconds. It was long enough to commune and get the SP. Then I got out of there with the map completion.

It took less than 20 seconds after I pulled and killed the mobs there.

How is performance on European servers for Oceanic/Asian players?

Also, when will the free transfers end?

My guild just decided to transfer from an American server to a European one. I like to WvW with them and I am considering moving, but I have concerns because I am in Asia at GMT +9.
