Hi Cheiron,

As read from an earlier topic, I believe a gentlemen lost $250 because ArenaNet saved his CVC credit card number (Without permission) when purchasing gems from the gemstore. His account was then hacked and $250 worth of gems were purchased.

Now off topic a little, this game has had one of the smoothest launches of any MMO… but people are being hacked left right and center and they are indeed getting a blank account back! Its a little silly you must admit simply because some of those people have been playing since pre-purchased launch and if I had a level 80 that was deleted because someone in china hacked my account… well… it wouldn’t be very nice xD And I’d want some form of compensation but thats my personal opinion.

Deltalord, has your account been compromised? If not I would possibly suggest opening up an incident ticket to get your authentication back up because that is a huge flaw in security. I have had around roughly 4 emails saying our lovable friends in China have tried to log in (again which adds to my worry of my original post) and my passwords are naught to be contended with either so it shook me a little. Luckily I saw the “disable authentication” button and was half tempted but considered that if I had disabled the authentication I would be in a more harmed state in terms of my account.

Im having to write up this post on my partner’s account because I can’t even log into the forums because of the authentication emails! Basically, I’ve moved locations for a week to stay with my partner across the country and obviously this would require me to authenticate my whereabouts so I may log into the game however, I have been asked to authenticate with no email provided! I am able to see and get emails from Guild Wars Support but no emails from “ArenaNet” prompting me to authenticate. I have checked my junk folder etc etc but to no avail sadly…. I have also attempted to use the “Account Recovery” option to reset my password but again, It says the email was sent but does not show up in my emails >_>

So to summarize, I am told an authentication email has been sent when I do not see one in my emails (Yes emails from ArenaNet are permitted and not blocked) or I am asked to authenticate with no sign of any authentication email. I have authenticated before and it worked just fine. Bit weird… has me concerned a tad so any help or light on the situation would be most appreciated! I also have an incident ticket open if I am fortunate enough to receive any official help [Incident: 120911-002142] Thank you!
