Seriously massive marketing fail

Today, gw2 was featured on the gamescon twitch and thousands were watching. This was an excellent chance for the devs to present exactly what guild wars 2 is and what they are doing with it, and how its different/better than other MMO’s. This should have been the plan. They absolutely slaughtered it for god knows why. The presentation was probably the worst ive ever seen. It was worth of r/cringe. It bascially looked like Anet made up a gameplan for what theyd do 30 seconds before they went out.

What followed was not a successful demonstration of gw2 but 75% loading times, extremely poor commentary, and a disorganized presentation of the game.

That will seriously kill the games potential playerbase, because 7000 people watched that, thought wait what?!?! and now their impression of the game will affect all of their friends so thats 10’s of thousands.

I feel very bad for whoever it was who had to go out there unprepared for whatever reason and try to present the game.

PPT is a joke. WvW is about fights.

We all realize this and have for a while, its just time for the devs to. In terms of coverage, there are rarely any balanced matchups that give each server a fighting chance. For this reason, long ago did people learn to enjoy fights more than get worked up over hours of ppt herding that never was going to pay off anyway.

I think WvW should be redesigned around fights. People who wins fights gain PPT, instead of capping points. If this were true, and you could measure server skill by how well they fought, Blackgate would be mid-tier, Mag and PS would be #1, and things would feel a whole lot better.

I don’t know about you, but the devs have been eerily silent on the actual status of WvW. The entire game mode is more about fights now. Anyone who has gone to WvW know prime-time is littered with open field fights between pugs or guilds.

Even though the high tier guilds are getting burnt out because of the lack of WvW change or GvG addition and are beginning to leave the game because of this(bless you all, you have pioneered the meta of gw2 skill groups for so long, we understand).

Even amongst servers themselves, they all know who has the strongest fighting force. Blackgate and SFR know they arn’t collectively the most skilled fighters out there, they just have a lot of coverage. Actually, a lot of Tier 1 servers are like this and all know this. Guilds themselves represent their servers with their fierce fighting power.

If the dev’s take the time to read this, I figure you probably won’t want to remove WvW ppt but you have to understand that the ability to win Open Field fights, in some situations against forces 3 times your skill, is a better test of skill than PPT because of how unfair coverage is. You seriously have to take this into account if you want there to be any hope for WvW.

How Can ANet Improve Average Player Skills

Although there are a good share of casuals in this game, this is extremely overboard. Anet would pretty much be alienating the entire population of casuals or average players in the game by doing this. There is no reason for casual players to be forced to get better, because they arn’t forced to do harder level content.

Second of all, you misunderstood what the thread you are replying to said. People are sick of being discriminated against because they arn’t running a specific build or having a certain amount of achievement points. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are bad. I was in a high level fractal, 49, with my friend and 3 other people I didnt know. They kicked my friend halfway through because they blamed him for their failure. The irony is he was an ele and lasted longer than any of the zerk kittens trying to speedrun their way through the fractal. This is the type of toxicity players are sick of. The elitists mentality is wanting everyone to a berserker warrior or berserker ele(for some reason these wannabee elites thought eles were bad) for the most dps possible, so they speedrun cough cough mob skip cough cough corner stack cough through a fractal as fast as possible.

Anet!! You have outdone yourselves!!!

So I guess this is the first big livng story patch we have seen. I just got back from the massive event in fireheart rise. We had about 8 commander pins on the map, each with about 30 peopel easily on them. I have a pic of what is undoubtedly 80 people, and it runs so smooth. We acc failed the event. We had 30 secs left on it and 5 percent on the last wave. It was fun though. Thanx Anet this is a hundred times better than last shores. Its seriously impressive in terms of capability. All the different factions, the massive amounts of DE’s. This is exactly what I wanted to see happen with DE’s and the Living Story.

So jaded by this forum community..

To my knowledge, which can be summarized as reading 80% of the posts on here, there is pretty much nothing that can satisfy this community. Literally something always has to cause conflict and several rage posts. To add to that, most of the forum posts that do offer criticism, don’t offer it constructively. There is a lot of “This is the last straw Anet”, or “Does Anet even care about their players?” on this forum. We get patches every month! And in the last 2 months, its been twice a month, which is absolutely insane for a game. Obviously its a continual learning process, but I don’t think most of you actually take the time to appreciate the immense work Anet puts into the game, part of which is going on the forums listening to you guys make lousy complaints.
