Like everyone else, I’d like to ask to participate ^^ I have both a warrior and elemtalist available and geared for the job.
Cheers Loki, for steering back to the question.
Winds. Simply beautiful is all I can say ^^ Put a story behind the events by using in-game personalities. Love it! May just have to make myself a Charr and use what you said as his character basis now.
Konig Des Todes.
Now this I like. A lot. So maybe my Ele has been going “Bruce Willis” this whole time in Tyria. He died long ago in a battle, but having an Asura’s intelligence and elemental mastery (or something, I’ll try and flesh it out a bit more) he preserved his conciousness to keep the world safe by leading them with his extensive knowledge of battle strategy. He could have been present in every one of the battles each map represents without anyone else batting an eye, because hey, he’s a reinforcement. Each time he enters a battle, he’s re-living the event in his head. Or maybe even someone’s using the same technology that preserved him and trying to alter the past battles to different outcomes for the sake of their god. We can’t let that happen.
This has been helpful guys. Cheers
Let me start by saying that this post will mention WoW as an example. If it makes you too kitten to hear about another game as it seems so many do, please leave.
So about the WoW example. The main thing that made me enjoy WoW’s pvp was the factions, as each battleground was related to an ongoing battle between the horde and allience. You’d see the struggle in Ashenvale, and join Warsong gulch to fight the enemy faction back from that territory.
With the fact GW2 has no factrions, I’m struggling to get into PvP from a lore oriented perspective. My characters aren’t fighting back a known threat, just mindlessly killing each other and then standing side by side like nothing happened in LA.
I thought I’d come here to ask what story the RP’ers among you are using to give your character a sense of purpose in sPvP. So far the only story I’ve managed to make for why my char goes there is to “prove himself”, which isn’t at all relative to the character I created.
So, what’s your lore perspective on sPvp? Why does your character fight in the mists?
Vouch and /signed. Brilliant idea.
I did some searching, but my ’kitten -ness may have gotten the better of me, as I found no similar threads when this is an issue I hear many complain about.
Every so often, I DC. Mostly doing content such as the living story, given the huge zerg that floods the screen with all their AoE effects. I’ve gotten used to it, but one thing that simply ruins the experience is how DC’ing throws you into the overflow.
It would be understandable if I was offline for maybe 30 seconds or more, another player can take my spot. However, I DC with no indication of lag or anything, instantly log back in, only to find I’ve been moved to the overflow and didn’t even get bronze credit for the event I was just in.
It takes away almost all incentive to join in with these events, knowing the second I get DC’d, it’s game over for my time in the event. Regardless how much I had been contribution.
FIX: There’s probably a few ways to solve this, but the easiest one I can think of would be to give players a 20-30 second windows in which their character is still part of the respective instance/overflow they were playing in while offline. After the 20-30 seconds, just remove them and let someone else take their spot.
Cheers.
