I’m also having this problem, and it started after I went to the Grove as well. Restarting didn’t do anything, or switching characters.
I’ve always had a feeling that many MMO’ers needed to get a sense of humor and go outside once in a while, but this is pretty clear evidence.
Humor is subjective, to say someone needs a sense of humor bc they don’t find funny what you do proves you don’t understand that point.
And in some cases, humor isn’t even the issue. Some people are getting sick from this and developing headaches, others are having trouble playing due to the fact they can’t see around their heads.
@op
this works for me, run the game with the command line “-nosound”
You shortcut should look something like “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -nosound"
here’s more info on how to do this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_argumentsLet me personally thank you for this.
I can also affirm that this worked. Right now I’m seeing if it is a permanent disable, IE after you remove -nosound. If not, I’m going to try nomusic.
UPDATE: It would seem only -nosound disables the bobbleheads, and only when you have it in the shortcut.

While I can make a new character and explore a new path, as I’m doing right now with my necromancer, some quests I’d enjoy to go back and do them again. I’ve enjoyed both the vigil quests and the whispers quests so far, but I wouldn’t want to make a new character just to do those again.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this game was the personal story. In fact I recently got back into this game after a long time of not playing very often due to the fact I created a necromancer and have been doing the story. While playing, I was wondering how long until I got bored again, which is something that happens with me for any game. I realized that the original reason I got bored was that I had finished the story quests on my warrior and had gotten bored of just meta farming and dungeons. The new events didn’t really interest me much. So after searching through the forum and finding no topics about this, I decided to make one.
I think if you allowed people to replay the story missions they have already done, you’d be able to retain more people. Whether or not you were allowed to bring other people along is debatable, but I for one would play this game much more if I could do these story quests again without having to make a new character. I’m not asking for the ability to change your story; everything you had picked would be set in stone. You wouldn’t gain any rewards from doing them either, just the enjoyment of it. I don’t think it would take much work, besides limiting what people could choose or just cutting that part out of already completed missions.
All thoughts are appreciated, with the exception of useless flame comments.
I was lucky enough to make it through the worst of the storm around my area with power. I still think that something should allow my fellow unfortunate east coasters to enjoy something, since they won’t have much to enjoy for the weeks after the storm, depending on where they live.
I would just like the extension as I am directly in the path and it is predicted that the area I am in will lose power for a week. I am one achievement from Emissary of the Mad King, and I would be very disappointed if all my hard work had been for nothing, especially if they change up the events next year. So ANet, please do consider an extension, many people will be extremely grateful.
I’m writing this post because of the hurricane and the possibility of many people on the east coast losing power and not having it by the 31st. This will bar many people from attending the party and getting the Emissary achievement. Many people will be disappointing that all their hard work was for nothing just because of a storm knocking out their power. If a possible extension could be considered, that would be great. Thank you for considering.
And to all the “Do it next year stop complaining” What if it is a different event next year? And I doubt many people will want to wait an entire year for one achievement.
Yeah, hopefully they fix this soon because it bars me from doing WvW and anything else with a lot of people, like large events.
Same exact thing happens to me, 3 times in WvW and once fighting the Champion Family Sized Candy Corn Elemental in Mad King’s Labrynth. Same sound bug too, and it’s only started doing this recently.
I was playing some WvW today, to get my monthly kills, when a few things happened.
The first was that while I was attacking a tower with a lot of other people, All sound stopped and then a loud low-tone sound faded in and out of just my LEFT headphone. I alt tabbed to see if something weird was going on, when Guild Wars 2 just stopped working. When I ended the process in Task Manager, the beeping also stopped.
Then the next time, (Same tower) I froze while attacking a person. The first time I figured it was just too much stuff on the screen at once, but this was facing away from the tower.
After this, and thoroughly annoyed, come back once again, in time for the gates to fall, and luckily no freezes or beeping. Then I go with the group I was with to assault another tower, and the beeping came back and then the game froze. I was especially worried after this last time because the beeping DID NOT STOP after Guild Wars 2 was closed. I had to restart my computer just to make it stop.
If anyone has had this problem and solved it, I’m eager to hear how.
