Me and a buddy are trying to play together and just do some general questing. We are standing in the same area, in a party, neither of us are in over flow. Neither of us have the option to ’join in". Neither of us can team up to adventure. :-(
We do DEs as they pop up around us. But we tend to skip DEs that we have already done. I can only guard the same caravan so many times before I feel like I want to rip my eyes out. But we try to do all the ones that pop up when we hit a new zone. Neither of us are very into crafting and if we are forced to craft just to keep up with the level zone requirements then I have a big issue with this game.
Edit: I say we because we both do the same things. We solo play away from each other at the beginning of new games so she can get used to the game on her own. Else it becomes “Follow Slyxx and kill what he kills.” When we do that she doesn’t learn the game she is just a pet and feels like one.

I concur. I too have been clearing the entire zone only to find that I am too under leveled and under powered for the next zone. Sure I can just go to another races area and do quests there but I really feel like I should not have to.
This is important for less experienced players as well. I talked my GF into playing GW2 and she is struggling with this at a very early level range already. Constantly getting killed by mobs while trying to clear hearts that are a few levels above her has left her with a sour taste in her mouth for GW2. She is not a hard core gamer nor does she have the twitch skills to circle strafe. She does good with even level mobs but because she is forced to do hearts over her level she is having a hard time.
