Hello, I’m coming back into GW2 and completely lost haven’t played since a month or two after launch really, but I remember there being an event in Queensdale where a world boss would spawn in the swamp area and he was a decent chance at loot on a daily basis, is he still there and wasn’t there a website to see his timer? Also if hes not or there’s others can anyone list a couple names so I can Google them, thanks.

Friend of mine wants to buy a new laptop for school and to play games on, he’s adamant he want’s laptop over a desktop and would like to budget it under 800$.
I looked around and found this one on Newegg for 730$/Free Shipping has great reviews and someone said they can run BF3 on ultra with it at about 25 fps the only downside I was reading was the speakers and it having Window’s 8.
I’d like a second opinion on it before I recommend it to him also if anyone has experience with the Window’s issue is it viable to just downgrade to Window’s 7 or is 8 not a big issue.

Alright so my parts came in and i cant get the processor to fit into the mother board, there’s a white plastic piece that has a raise mid section that’s blocking the processor from dropping in. I’ll try to get a picture up.

Quick question do helms show up with their original visual or do they only show up as masks? Just in case I’m way off can Mesmers wear regular helms like Necromancers an Elementalists or can they only wear masks? Thank you.
This isn’t 100% relevant but maybe it’ll expand the topic more. On my warrior who is a weapon smith my weapons are at equal level and augmented both for power. I can do so much more with my bow then with melee weapons. I was fighting monsters 2-3 levels higher then me with a 2 hand sword and dual wielding axes and I was going 1 for 1 with mobs as in going into the “downed” state but finishing them off and not dying. When I used my bow with the same mobs I was able to kite and kill 2-3 at a time with out much difference in fight time. I’ve tried all the classes as well and what I’m getting at is weapon choice per class dramatically plays a difference in my opinion. I think the engineer is up there for their actual skills. Elementalist’s I think would be up there if the player is maximizing their group potential by rotating thru the elements to support/dps/kite-disable.
Alright buying this stuff then, yeah been watching videos and I’ll keep watching them. Thank you very much for all the info and taking the time to piece and link the items, I really appreciate it, take care.

Thank you both Tuttle and Madmardagan that was some quality information I was lacking. Yeah the CD/DVD drive had a ribbon cable so good call, also I’ve never installed an OS, so if I bought Windows 7 I’m assuming it would come on a CD. To install using a USB flash drive how would I go about it, just copy and paste it from the CD to the USB using another computer?

Hey all, I’m looking into building my first desktop for gaming specifically for WvW play. I’d like to keep the budget under 800 after shipping preferably in the 5-600 dollar range. It would be from scratch I’d need a case, operating system and all the other parts minus the mouse, keyboard, and monitor. I’d prefer if buy all from one site such as Newegg or Tigerdirect. On some of the sites I was looking into they are saying you can upgrade for free from Windows 7 to 8, I’m currently using Windows Vista at the moment and was curious on peoples opinions on Windows 8 if they’re using it over Vista and Windows 7.
I want the computer to run large WvW battles at 30 or higher FPS is the main thing.
The monitor I’m going to be using has 3d capabilities so if the computer could run under 3d settings that would be awesome but not required.

There’s a lot of rampant speculation going on here, heh. I have no doubt that the ANet team wants players who were hacked to get back in the game as soon as possible and are working hard to that end. It’s not in their best interest to work on the opposite goal; people who can’t play don’t contribute to the game nor buy gems.
While the malfeasance lies at the feet of the hackers, perhaps some reasonably anticipated, stronger security measures would have prevented the hacked accounts and will do so in the future. I’m sure the team is working hard to getting the victims’ accounts back to them despite the efforts of these hackers. In fact, I bet the staff is probably making some mad overtime for all the hard work and time they’re putting in. Perhaps you haven’t noticed that over this past week or so, changes have been made at all hours of the day, with back-end builds being pushed through at midnight Pacific time. Those are certainly not working hours I’d ever care to keep.
As for banning for EULA violations – here here, Anet! It’s time someone weeded out the cancerous idiots that poison the health of the community as a whole and leech the fun out of the game for others so they can troll or blatantly exploit. It’s amusing to hear these folks whine though, it’s pretty easy – don’t be an idiot, you won’t get banned.
Don’t like the EULA? We’re adults here – don’t choose to enter into the agreement. Nobody’s forcing anyone to play this game. Renege on your end? ANet is fully justified in engaging the remedies available to them to rectify your failure.
The ability to appeal a ban is actually rather generous on their end, and very very commendable – they’re taking on a significant workload they’re not required to, in addition to everything else. I can’t think of too many other software companies who would do such a thing, especially during crunch weeks.
Nothing I posted was rampant speculation all of it was based on personal experience and viewing the countless threads on ArenaNet’s forums as well as other sites, as well as past experiences with different games and companies. At this point it’s pretty safe to assume Guild Wars 2 is making the majority of it’s money of game sales and not in-game purchases or monthly fees, so in that respect banning in the hopes of a player re-buying the game or doing a charge back and again re-buying is in the companies best interest. The banning does nothing but promote the game by sparking controversy and boosting game sales when people re-buy the game if they do.
Yes most of the time getting hacked or your account getting compromised is usually on the users end it is not always. While my friend and others is losing their account integrity is most likely on them it cannot be said with certainty. The fact that they have permanent bans with no way to remedy but by waiting for a response when ArenaNet “gets the time to get to them” while people knowingly exploited can just fess up and get a 3 day ban is ludicrous.
As far as violating the EULA via profanity/vulgarism of course that’s up to the company’s discretion and is easily avoidable by the player, bans for those such things is quite excessive. If the appeals aren’t being looked into in a timely fashion as well as acted upon then no they aren’t generous. And since they are by customers yes ArenaNet is required to. I think people are confusing bans (permanent) with suspensions (temporary) as well as bans lasting longer then the games been released for chat issues.

I’m curious what plans you have to compensate people that were wrongfully banned, or banned excessively, as well as for all the other players.

These should be easy and quick to remedy, I’d think just quickly checking the activity, log in info, and account settings would show the hacked accounts.

While I agree measures should be taken for people scamming, excessively (if at all) using profanity, and racial slurs the length I’m reading on some of these threads is quite ridiculous.
All of the player base is now being effected by these bans. I myself am having a sinking play through as a couple friends who I have played with for many years are unable to play due to hacked accounts.
The team(s)/system in charge of all these bans and suspensions needs to be reviewed, reprimanded, and re-structured as they are functioning completely inept.
All in all I’d much rather attention be focused on these bans, appeals, and support tickets rather then compensating the player base but too much time is passing to just let this go.
