After getting the noble count outfit, I found out that female characters legs disappear abruptly in a way that looks really wonky while gliding or running. The end of the dress also moves a bit oddly while running.

Both of these problems aren’t visible in the standing preview you get in the black lion shop, so adding in run/glide previews would give players a much better idea of what skins will look like during actual gameplay.

Attached are Noble Count (bad) and Wedding Attire (good). As you can see, the noble count just has a black void. It is even more obvious while in motion and it is really jarring.

I don’t pre-purchase games because it is an awful industry practice and is directly responsible for every single terrible release in the last 10 years (source: I made it up). If companies actually had to make a good product before selling it (like just about every other industry) we’d probably have much better quality. But apparently gamers are goldfish and keep forgetting every buggy and incomplete game that constantly get released… but I digress.

My point is that since I won’t be getting the character slot for the expansion that adds a new class (like both of the GW1 campaigns did), I probably won’t be getting HoT. I guess thats alright though since from everything I’ve seen of new content lately it is about 1 hour of fanfic-tier storytelling followed by several hours of follow the zerg. Judging by LS season 2. Which is all I have to go by considering only people who pre-purchase can get at the beta. But I won’t pre-purchase. So I can’t see if the content is worth buying or not. Oh well. The lack of a character slot just confirms my decision to not bother.

Eh, hadn’t played beyond getting the monthly in a few months anyway, guess I’ll just stop completely.

Am I the only who refuses to pre-order (and especially pre-purchase) because I consider it to be awful for the gaming industry in general? This announcement doesn’t really change anything for me, so I still won’t be getting it until I know it is worth it. That means I’ll be missing out on the character slot for not pre-purchasing, so I won’t be bothering at all. This ‘deal’ still screws people who wait to find out what they are buying before dumping money on things. As well as all the people who get told the expansion is good and that they should buy it. But I guess you don’t have any faith in your product itself so are trying to get as many pre-purchases as possible before the reviews hit. Call me cynical, but I’m sick of awful games being ‘released’ in half completed states. Even if I have faith in the company I still won’t do it (see: recent controversy over Batman: Arkham Knight). Ya’ll need to listen to TotalBiscuit more.

Oh well. Been a good 10 years Anet.
