Showing Posts For Snipps.1532:
It’s a well known fact that GW2’s PVE is horrible.
This first statement smacks of hyperbole and it continues at points throughout your post. I have not read nor seen sources to back this statement up in any mass that would make it true.
Your post is well written and your opinion which is perfectly fine on a forum. It seems though, that the problem might not lie in the game itself but in the fact that you just aren’t happy with what it is. That happens. Rather than try and say a game which was never designed the way you describe should change, why not simply say you tried a game with a different approach and didn’t like it.
That approach doesn’t mean the game will fail, it simply means it might not be for you.
I’m on Borliss Pass and was doing the human starting areas last night. There were people everywhere. When events popped there was a good group that came in and did them. I have to agree with the others that it might be your server or maybe the time you’re on.
If you check out the announcements, I’m pretty sure they specifically state that it’s a one time only chance.
I went and found it. This is in the announcement.
The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.

I can also tell that Araneyl hasn’t played many other MMos either, this was one of the worst implementations of a Halloween event I’ve personally seen. On ‘paper’ it sounds good, it just was executed and constructed poorly, and there can be easily 5 maybe more reasons why.
- Crippling bugs and issues through-out the event
- Gambling/Lottery system for skins
- Significant issues with the dungeons (MK being one of them)
- Clocktower was far harder than it really needed to be
- Event was shorter than any other MMo
- No support/care for people affected by Sandy
- Required very excessive amounts of grinding (Master Carver Title for example)
- Event was too hardcore, casual players and people who work etc..was overlooked
I don’t agree with most of this.
1. Didn’t see crippling bugs but saw a few. Still got through it all.
2. You didn’t have to participate if you didn’t want to. I tried a few, didn’t win and went on my way.
3. Again, not discounting there may have been bugs, but, I and my guild made it through.
4. Your opinion. Tons of people enjoyed something with a little difficulty to it finally. For the record I didn’t complete it but I had fun trying (and some laughs along the way)
5. There are other longer events and other shorter events. “any othe MMO in history” is a stretch. We were notified well in advance and were able to plan.
6. Sorry about the storm (have family there) but Anet caters to the world not just one section.
7. Only if you wanted to. I think people take this a little too seriously. It was an addition to the game, that we don’t pay monthly for.
8. No. Just no. I work, have 2 young daughters, take care of my house stuff, travel for business, etc. I have a full busy day and still found time for the event and had fun. From the other responses it sounds like you made it hardcore. (grinding etc)
I’m glad this wasn’t a simple give everyone everything for almost nothing. It allowed me to pick and choose how to participate. If I chose not to then I knew what I was missing. Too many people want everything a game has to offer for little or no involvement. They cite their personal lives as reasons they should be granted an exemption. This is wrong. Just because we have busy lives doesn’t mean a gaming company that caters to millions should craft what it does just for us. It means things here might not be right for us and we may need to seek other entertainment forms that give us what we’re looking for as well as fit our lifestyles.
To echo the other responses. I had names I wanted to save and when they said they would be released a few days after game start, I made sure I had all mine. The fact that they took along time I figured meant then had issues. I definitely agree with the poster above that stating you’ve “only been given a weeks notice” is not being true at all. You were actually given a few days but waited when nothing happened.
nldixon, it’s a bit more than splitting hairs on the b2p or f2p thing i’m afraid:
they sold 2 million copies, so b2p in my explanation but call it whatever you want
Important is that this was way more than they anticipated or ‘needed’ for their costs made.
So because it is indeed b2p and only 2 months in the game, and because the sales were so high… they didn’t need to milk the cash shop this harsh, so early.
They didn’t need the income badly yet. more money is always good for a company, but it is way too soon to say they needed it so bad they should risk disapointing their most paying customers. The money gained wasn’t needed enough to risk the reputation lost.
I respectfully disagree with your main thought. Unless we know Anet’s business model, what their operating costs were and are, what they have already begun work on for future content, the staffing requirements etc. then we can’t know what they need in the way of income. We have no idea what their investment is in the future of the game and where it’s coming from. Basically, we can’t make definitive statements like the last one above without knowing the financial details of Anet beyond broad numbers thrown around from purchases, etc. It would be better to perhaps say you don’t think they should charge this much this soon because it may look bad rather than statements of fact around their need for funding.
This thread cracks me up. Tons of people crying that they spent their own money on a item they weren’t guaranteed to get then go to a forum to cry about it. You sound like a bunch of kids that bought a toy with your allowance and dropped it and broke it outside the store then blamed the store for you not having the toy!
Bunch of entitled whiners. You spent your money, took your chance. Only you wanted to get everything in the first few hours of a week long event. Unbelievable.
It’s an MMO.
Casual players are welcome but they shouldn’t expect to REALLY benefit visually and set themselves apart from anyone else unless they put in TIME.
Because…..it’s an MMO.
you sir missed the point of this thread it is a event for the COMMUNITY when you dont include a good portion of said COMMUNITY why have the event at all.
legendary items are obtainable to everyone may take longer for a causal than it does for a hardcore player but it will happen at one point these items for this event as it sits you will not see a causal running around with any of the crafted skins
No you missed the point. Yes it is a community event. No where did it ever say that the entire community would get to experience the entire event and get all of the rewards in the first 12 hours of the event.
The word entitlement comes to mind. I’m not a hard core player myself. I won’t spend more than one or two keys on a chest. I won’t collect enough candy corn for a reward. I will try the other activities and have fun.
Just because there’s an event and you don’t want to participate in part of it because it takes too long doesn’t mean the event is bad. Everyone is not equal. We all do what we want with the time we have.
Stop thinking you’re owed something. Stop with the crying and whining all the time. Go enjoy yourself and be happy.
Happy Halloween!
