Gliding and Territories in WvW

I’m gonna adopt a wait-and-see attitude until I’ve tried it. For all I know, it might be fun. I often find myself trying to glide from frighteningly places in WvW only to get reminded – fatally – that there is no gliding in WvW.

Just for myself, I’ve played around with vanilla builds even after I got my elite specs and found them to still be viable and in some cases/situations, potent.

To the original poster I would say, that unless there is something else from HoT that you really want, my personal rec is that vanilla GW2 will do just fine.

How do you rank GW2 WvW vs other RvR games?

It’s a bit more democratic than the WvW-type thing I was in in another game several years ago. By democratic I mean, to a certain extent you can still get things done either by roaming or joining a squad or running alongside one.

As for joining a squad itself, most of the time it’s a painless process where one doesn’t have to jump through hoops to please a tyrannical group leader. And in my experience at least, I have seen commanders who were kind enough to mention whether or not their squads were closed or open.

Yes, WvW in this game needs fixing in a lot of areas, but overall, it’s a far better place than the one I came from.

A Big TY For A Dragonbrand Squire from [TDME]

Last night, my guildie and I were in the green borderlands waiting for the Veteran Warg to appear so we could get one of our dailies done. Soon after we arrived, we were joined by a Dragonbrand Squire (we’re from the opposite side). It was a female Sylvari Elementalist from The Dragons of Middle Earth [TDME] guild.

The warg appeared, and we all were very careful and avoided hitting each other with our skills (with great success!). Once it died, we all set about to go our own ways, but not before the Dragonbrand Squire bowed and waved to us. I returned her kind gesture and hoped she saw it before leaving the area.

Anyway, this is just in case she didn’t see it. It made me happy that we were able to forget – even for a short time – that were on opposite sides of the battle, and that we were able to part amicably.

So if you are from [TDME] and happen to read this, could you pass my guild’s thanks along to her? She may not visit the forums and I didn’t know how to contact her while inside WvW.

With Thanks from,

The Two Little Asura from The Square Root of Cake Is Pie [SRCP] guild, Devona’s Rest

@ Ardenwolfe: this has happened to me in the sense that, for a long time I ignored the alerts that told me I had completed Agent of Entropy. I just assumed I was getting the 2 pts. every single time. Then one day I DID pay attention and laughed when I saw I no longer got points for doing the achievement.

@ Just a flesh wound: thanks for the step-by-step! It’s more out of curiosity than anything else. As an intellectual exercise, I’m going to give this a week or so to see if – like you mentioned – the claims are valid.

I’ve heard a few players brag about being able to gain 20-30 achievement points EVERY DAY on top of the 10 points the daily gives us. When I asked these players how they are getting the extra points, they refused to answer.

So, are there such things as infinitely repeatable achivements that have no caps on points earned or are these players exploiting a bug or two?

Glazed Peach Tarts Undelivered

A few days ago, I bought a stack of Glazed Peach Tarts from the Trading Post. My transaction logs in the store panel as well as the game message in chat confirmed that I indeed purchased and then received said items. However, the peach tarts never showed up in my inventory. I waited for about 30 minutes, just in case it was due to lag: nothing. I restarted my game: nothing. I’ve given it a few days now and still, the stack has not shown up. I have since then had to purchase a new stack and for some reason that went through without a hitch.
