Gather around and allow me to tell you a tale. A tale of great heroes, unspeakable dangers, and glorious battle. One of damsels of the distressed nature and of villains too terrifying for words.

Zoxx here, I’m looking for a group of nice folks who may be interested in joining The Goodtimers. It’s a VERY new guild looking for like-minded people who’s aim is to just enjoy the game and experience all it has to offer.

A little bit about myself:

I’m 20 years old and have always preferred mature gaming environments with a tight-knit group of people. I’m a fairly seasoned MMO player who has been semi-detached from reality for approximately 9 years. Any time I enter a new MMO, my main goal is to see, do, and complete all of the game’s content. Whether it be PvP, PvE, or otherwise.

My philosophy in life has always been “If you can’t laugh at everything, you shouldn’t laugh at anything”. I think that the end goal of any game is to enjoy yourself. I would hope that a lot of you share that philosophy and attitude. If you don’t, please stop reading now.

My list of rules for the guild:

I’ve been in many guilds, clans, and gaming communities during my time playing vidya games. And basically every one has a very similar set of rules. I’ll condense them down into more general terms.

1.) Don’t be a d**k. Hate speech most importantly. Be decent human beings. I’m not going to censor anyone in my guild, but using your words or actions with the intent to hurt a person or group of people in any way is not tolerated.

2.) Drama queens, leave your crying crowns at the door. You know who you are. If you don’t, I’ll let you know and you’ll be treated with a swift kick in the behind.

3.) We are RP-friendly, but not RP oriented. This isn’t really a rule, but just be aware. I myself do NOT RP, but I will support members who enjoy that aspect of the game any way I can.

4.) Do not beg, or feel entitled for free items or gold from other people anywhere. Be it guild chat, or public. It’s demeaning to the guild and yourself. Don’t do it. I’ll do my best to lend a hand or advice, but I’m not an ATM and I don’t expect anyone else in the guild to be either.

5.) Be over 18. This speaks for itself.

6.) Enjoy yourself. Easy right?

Bragging rights has nothing to do with it, Raken. I just prefer Engineer’s play style to any other class. Though I hear flavour of the month tastes pretty good

I gave up trying to make a competitive DPS build a while ago. Grenades are still your best bet unfortunately, they’ve just gone from exponentially better to slightly better. Now, I use a control/DPS build and it’s working quite well, and it’s a ton of fun.

In PvE, I fight in melee using the tool kit for a mobile block and the prybar which hits pretty darn high and leaves a confuse for more damage. I also stay in there for blunderbuss+Jump shot combos and use the wrench smack auto attack. It’s some nice sustained damage. The build also features the potential for an 80% uptime stun lock (100% if you’re fighting a melee and use net shot). So you can CC a nasty mob for a long period of time. You also have a magnet pull to get mobs off of your squishy face melters.

In WvW, I use the same build. I use toughness accessories and runes of the earth for protection so I rarely get killed. I can usually take on 2-3 people at a time if they’re uncoordinated (which they usually are) because I can disable someone while bursting down another with lightning and other unpleasantness. I use berserker gear and full tool tree so my critical change and % is very high.

I found it on the “Post your build” thread (I think that’s what it’s called, it’s stickied so you should go check it out, lots of nice builds there) and put a little spin on it changing some things.

Don’t listen to those who saw the 30% grenade nerf, dropped a load in their diapers and rerolled. Work through the changes and adapt. Engies have that luxury. There’s always going to be a suitable build to suit your play style. We have to work harder, but I think that’s what makes engineer so fun.

Finally managed to get the money together for the helmet I’ve wanted for a long time.

I saw the Shaman amulet in sPvP but I’m looking for a set that I can take into dungeons and WvWvW. Still looking guys! Let me know!

I think everyone made the same mistake. It’s very easy to miss. And amazing once you find out!

You need to rebind everything. Underwater is a completely different bar set.

Go into explosives for shrapnel, 10% explosive damage, and the grenadier grandmaster

In firearms, vulnerability on crit, and 20 other points in whatever your utility suit is going to be.

The last 10 put it wherever you want, I recommend alchemy.

Congrats, you’re in with now the majority of PvE Engineers. lol

Right now, the grenade kit is the go-to DPS for the engineer. I’ve been messing around with a lot of builds and have not come across anything that comes close to grenade/bomb spam. So yes, welcome to the club. Here’s your jacket.
