I have a question about this. What if we are not part of a party at all and just join in the battle and we die. We can’t waypoint out even if we are alone and just join in?

I am a new player. Never played GW 1. I play casually as I work all day and go to college classes usually until 7 at night or a 9 for one day. I do homework first before anything so as a new and casual player I liked being able to join a world battle like the maw and the Plains Wurm Champion or something in Disaessa without being in a party. I prefer solo playing, but I don’t mind joining in. I just don’t like to be forced to join a party to do something.

Anyway, about the waypoint thing, I liked being able to go to a waypoint if I died so as not to be inconvenient to the other players and also to get back in the action quicker. I like going after the higher level battles even at a lower level for the large experience and the challenge of it. I do enjoy a challenge don’t get me wrong, and maybe the waypoint thing is a bit of a crutch for me, but I like to go into a challenging fight and have the security of the waypoint. With that being taken away I don’t think I will have as much fun as I have been since I started playing a week ago.

The waypoint issue doesn’t pertain to the normal map battles, only to dungeon ones, when you go in as a party of five ^^

A story from AC Story last night –
Five of us, in a party levels ranging 32-80, were doing pretty well through out it. We got through most of the bosses no problem, yeah we had a few deaths, but only maybe one per battle and we were able to get them up.
Okay.
Fast forward to King Adelbern.
We start it off, and at first it seems all is normal. Then out of nowhere one of our eles (me being the other one) gets hit with thrown blue fire and immediately goes down. Add in the aoe fire he so enjoys and the ele is out. Another player goes to revive, gets some of the health in before having to dodge away. I go in to heal, and am also forced to dodge away, but I still get hit and am downed. Mist myself behind a pillar and heal up.
When I come out every other party member is dead.
That makes me the sole player alive (at least Eir and Rytlock were still there and attacking…)
So I’m dodging around, making judicious use of my heals, water, and dodge ability, and after about five minutes of alternately healing, getting pulled in, dodging backwards, starting to heal, and having to dodge away the moment I see the red aoe circle, I finally get one up.
Factor in having to go behind pillars sometimes where he couldn’t see or attack me and I’m honestly mystified how we didn’t lose aggro. Did I miss that somewhere in the patch notes?
Well, the person I rezzed AGAIN gets 1-hit-koed, leaving me to do more dodging, rezzing etc. Finally, I get two people up and we can get the rest of the party, and by that point he’s at 1/2 health from the 3/4 he was when they all died, so we beat him, all alive. (I would have used my glyph of renewal, except that it seems to work only on downed not fallen players in dungeons.)
So yes, its possible to rez your whole party when you’re the sole one left. Is that possible with some bosses, even most of them? I highly, highly, doubt it.
Could I have died so he reset and we all went at him again? Yes. Would it have been more time-effective probably? Yes. But again, I’d place Adelbern as the exception, not the rule.

I’m not an experienced dungeon runner by any means – I haven’t run any one path more than three times and haven’t run most of the explorables either – but to me this sounds…painful. And quite bad unless dungeons are changed to accomodate it. A lot of the dungeon runs I’ve done are with people who aren’t very experienced at all, or who have only run as much as I have. None of us are pros, and yes, it shows in our boss battles. They’re painful, and more often than not four out of five of us end up running back from whatever far away waypoint we have because it just takes too long to rez someone when they’re fallen. That time means the boss gets free shots at us, and again, more often than not, we end up dead right next to them and having to run back ourselves. It’s especially bad when three die at once and then we’re 2vsBoss and relying on them getting back fast enough to not lose the aggro.
I understand that the pro-dungeoners or even the players who love a huge challenge see this as at least another challenge, and something new to test their skills, but for a lot of us not-so-experienced it will make dungeons hell/impossible for us to get through without hours upon hours of torture. They’re fun as they are right now and challenging to me at least, and I feel this waypoint-only-when-party-has-lost-aggro-or-is-all-dead can backfire quite badly unless adjustments are made for it, to support those who don’t have time to run dungeons constantly/just wish to run them for fun.
