Game dowloads files for four hours every day

Being away for a week I suspected there would be a new patch to install when I got back, and my friends told me I was correct. Although 244,753 files seemed a bit too heavy for a new patch. Four hours later it was complete but by then I was too tired and went to bed. Today it was the same thing again. Is my game reinstalling completely? Why? And how do I stop it?
Heard there was ANOTHER new patch today aswell, maybe that have something to do with it.

I usually get a new kind of serious issue with every new patch (freezing, crashing, unable to load, random failures, huge amount of repairs) that takes a day or two to solve. It’s wearing me down, because I love this game, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth the frustration.

Please tell me I’m overreacting and it’s an easy fix, all I have to do is (insert stupidly simple solution here)

I had this problem for a while. I’m not entirely sure how it got solved, cause I used a lot of different methods. BUT I suspect some of the problem came from the program AMD Catalyst. If you use this, try uninstall it. Otherwise I’m recommend running it through a clean boot, that’s what made the most difference. Good luck

Game keeps crashing since latest patch

Hello. Since the newest patch, I’m no longer able to play for longer than four minutes or less. I usually gets as far as loading Southsun shore, were I was when the new update started, but then the game crashes and I get the message: A serious error has occurred that prevents the program from continuing to run. You can help us prevent this error in the future by reporting it to ArenaNet. Pleas press the Send button to report this error. (etc, etc)
I’ve sent the report and done the recommended repair afterwards, but the problem prevails.
I’ve had a lot of trouble with guild wars the past month, but thought I might be out of the woods now. I’m running on Clean Boot, without any results. Anyone else got this problem?

The game started spontaniously yesterday, before I could make any changes, but today its the same problem again.
I did a cleen boot, but with no effect.
I belive I’ve removed StartManSvc.exe though I cant be compleatly sure since I could not find the actual file, but think I was able to remove the software that it belongs to. But my problem is still unchanged

I’ve had the same problem since I installed the latest patch: I’m able to log in fine to GW2 but the second I press “play” the game freezes and there’s a black screen in the background.
I’ve checked my firewall but everything seems fine, I’ve done a repair without results. Finally I had enough and reinstalled the game. At first it wouldn’t do that either but then I got the message that the game was blocked by the firewall and asked me if I wanted to bypass it. Knowing that it seemed like it was the firewall after all, but I had already uninstalled the files and had to reinstall. When the installation was complete the game started without problem. Then I turned it off and now the same problem is back. I still can’t start the game. And I can’t see any problem with the firewall.
