Upfront, I want to apologize for dragging up an old post, but I want to rescind my original post and thank ANet (Specifically Robert Gee) for what they have done for us and this class.
It still won’t be dungeon meta, but I can certainly live with the current state of the Necromancer.
Cheers and here is to hoping that the Nerf Bats are a “swing and a miss” for the near/far future.
Thanks Anet!
But honestly, the only time I get frustrated with the matchmaking is when as a 100% soloer in the unranked queue I get matched against a premade there to do nothing but grief people.
Guess you cannot account for everything…collect 500 and pass go…
RESOLVED!!! Just received my 5th (and hopefully last) RMA.
EVGA has a fix, but it will require a RMA. If you have this exact card and have a similar experience, open a ticket, reference the link below / EVGA Tech Dave B :

Hello all,
Alright we do have a fix now. Unfortunately this is not a BIOS fix. We will need to RMA your card(s) to get this resolved. Currently we have a limited number of tested cards, and getting more tested is our primary focus at the moment, and we will be assisting as fast as we can as the cards are passing testing. Please contact customer service for support on this.
Again we sincerely apologize for the issue and the problems it has caused and we will get all of you up and running again as fast as possible.
2:30 second mark. That is the experience to a T!
So sad : http://forums.evga.com/So-GTX-980-FTW-are-very-bad-cards-m2346232.aspx
18 pages worth of customers reporting the same experience.
Looks like there are two options for EVGA GTX 980 FTW :
1. RMA until you get that one card that works
2. See if your card / $580 purchase is eligible for the step up and eat the difference.
I just opened another ticket with EVGA, I included a link to this post and the one mentioned above.
Any fix for this, I have the same cards SLI’d and my rig crashes ONLY when playing gw2 also.
I have yet to find a resolution to this issue other then under-clocking the card (core & memory to -105).
Hey,
I like your editing job but there are a few things need to be fixed. Firstly, the texts are barely readable. They are too small and some coloured texts don’t show up well on screen. Also try not to include speculation (I feel this, I think that, I guess …) in your guides – it sounds very unreliable. If you are not sure about something, do some research and makes sure the information is correct. There are quite a few of flavored texts that are not related to the guides, I think those are best suited for a narrated guide than the caption format.
Thank you for your input, I’ll see what I can do to make the text easier to read, usually a black outline would be enough to separate text from the video. as far as making the text bigger, I don’t really want to have the text take up the whole screen even with how much it already does, and I don’t want to divide it enough into smaller bits and force the text to go by the screen too fast.
Yeah the speculation bit is a very valid point, I’ll remove it from further guides, and fix it from this one.
I’m personally a fan of flavored text, makes it a bit more interesting instead of just being bombarded with constant information, but I’ll try to limit it to a minimum.
Thanks Finn…appreciated your time putting this together.
The previewed revenant a few weeks ago was severely underpowered. They said that the purpose of the beta was to see what the community could do with the skills.
The numbers got a big buff in the next beta.
Maybe this is how anet does things.
Serious Question: knowing what happens to overpowered stuff in betas (it gets nerfed hard and never sees use again), do you have higher long term hopes for the Reaper or for the Chronomancer right now?
I am hopeful sir, but "The best predictor of future behavior is … past behavior ". I bought into the recent hype and excitement, but it just seems the same old….Necro’s just cant have nice things…
Let me sum it up, if you have followed Brazil’s last two video’s regarding the Necro’s trait changes and the recent one regarding his review of the Reaper, he basically stated the same thing in both, Dejavu anyone :
“Disappointment in the damage output”
Necro = Disappointment
Sigh

Love my Necro main…I use it for all sPvP, WvW, and PvE events. I have a dedicated staff Elementalist for Dungeons / Fractals…no need to explain why.
How is it possible that a complete rework of this class has turned out to be as unimpressive as what was experienced.
I have been a longgg time MMOr….in most games when a new class is introduced or a current class is reworked…the first iteration is always OVERPOWERED vs the previous builds and other classes. From there, the class is tweaked to "tone’ it down.
How is it $%$^%$^%$ possible that the beta test of the new and shiny Necro has again left so much of its user community deflated, unimpressed with the damage output, skill makeup, performance?
I am a forum troll, rarely post, read everything, love the game, but I had to have my 600 characters of text to express the depression the new build has left me and others in.
/Rant Off
To note…I am pretty sure I checked with EVGA the PCIExpress slot speed, but will confirm x16 x0 vs 8x 8×....
Hola Tabasco.1743,
Let me just say that I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!
MassDelusion.9130 posted my previous post :
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/EVGA-GTX-980-FTW-ACX-2-0-BSOD-Hard-Crash/
I have my 4th EVGA GTX 980 (RMA) being delivered today and I do not have high hopes that it will fully correct the BSOD issue with GW2.
I can not tell you the endless hours I have spent trying to troubleshoot this with EVGA and A-Net.
No resolution to date.
From BlueScreenView, two back to back crashes this evening :

Thank you for the replies ladies and gents :
DoM.8396 – Refresh / Frame Limiting / V-Sync settings seem to have no effect on subsiding the crashes.
SpiritSpeakerOfHoelbrak.3980 – Numerous fresh OS installs have been completed as part of the troubleshooting conducted with EVGA. Aside from the Corsair 1000W PSU, I have also tried a Corsair 750W PSU with the same result.
Part of my past troubleshooting with EVGA included monitoring PSU voltage during gameplay / CPU stress testing. Using OCCT’s PSU testing mode & monitoring during game play, we saw all tolerance within acceptable ranges : 5V – 5.08 to 5.12, 3.3V – 3.26 to 3.31, 12V – 12-12.1.
The 4790k is stock at this point as I too wanted to rule out overclocking as the possible culprit.
babazhook.6805 All crash events have been complied and reported to EVGA. Thank you for the response.
Also, memtest86+ reported no issues after several 4 to 6 hour runs.
Fellow GW2ers,
Anyone else out there have a similar card and are experiencing BSOD / Hard Crashes while playing GW2? If so, anything specific to correct?
I am about to initiate a 3rd RMA with EVGA, as nothing we have done to troubleshoot this issue has resolved it.
1. Extended memory test run without any reported issues.
2. The card runs other games without issue (Ex: Alien : Isolation).
3. I have tested a GTX 970 and a GTX 660ti, both run flawlessly.
4. OCCT extended stability tests all run without issue.
Interestingly, if I underclock the card (core & memory to -105) I can game for long periods without any crash or BSOD. (I am using MSI Afterburner to adjust clock speeds as EVGA’s PrecisionX software is also known to crash GW2)

I have the graphics settings set to “high”, setting to a lower setting does seem to calm the crashing, but who wants to play on a lowering setting with a GTX 980 running the game?
Help me Obi kittenanobi you’re my only hope!!!
