Menotme – Mesmer – Yak’s Bend – TOG
The best part of the game is not the game, it is the people.
No lumps of coal for you this year. Well Done Sir!
I have some comments, questions and need some clarification.
Lets say we are Green team and we are in Green Borderlands. Green teams objective in green Borderlands is to take over the garrison, keeps, towers, and upgrade them with supplies from the supply camps. Essentially driving Red and Blue off the map.
Now Red and Blue can gather enough people (don’t know what that number is) and get FREE supply and buffs and an escort to the nearest tower and essentially be gifted a tower in the same borderland they just got their butts kicked out.
Supply is the commodity in the WvW environment. To introduce supply outside of the closed system unbalances that system. I don’t even like it when people go to other maps to gather supply.
Lets reverse it because I have seen it happen. Green borderland again and Red and Blue take over everything. What happens now? Which tower is chosen or is garrison taken? If players cannot use the supply to upgrade the objective, they will get swept right back out again. What is gained?
Lastly, why is there no reward given for clearing the map? Green kicks off Red and Blue, no reward. The Tally points are not rewards (this also skews the tally points). Red and Blue are then rewarded for getting their bootys handed to them, by trying to give them a tower.
It is an interesting system but I do not think it would matter much.
The nature of the zerg is to roll as quickly with as many as possible. The zerg does not care if you can see it on the map, you will know where the zerg is when they roll up on you.
Tactically I like it, but is a bit too fine of a tool for the brute force of the zerg.

“You honestly believe that a persistent, on-going, constant wuvwuv which rewards Winners and Losers with NOTHING should be honestly prioritized over holiday events or more specifically, limited time events??”
I think we are seeing “reward” differently. My reward for WvWvW is the feeling of accomplishment of helping lay down a siege and taking a keep, scouting ahead for a possible sneak attack, running supplies or escorting a dolyak to make sure a keep gets its upgrades. Fighting along side my guildies against overwhelming odds and only sometimes coming out on top, but having a good time while doing that. I get that every night when I log in. So to say it rewards nothing is innaccurate.
What I have seen so far, and I know the game has not been out for long, is these once a year or even once ever more only offer some silver and maybe a couple of exotics, that my class cannot even use btw, that is of less value to me.
TBH – if this is a one time event that opens up some new contnent…I can see the importance of that….but
ANet is doing a rapid fire 3 months in a row PvE content while they do still have alot of work to do on the WvWvW front.
I do not know how resources behind the scenes are being distributed, but WvWvW is currently on the short stick.
Thanks
So the latest jumping puzzle fest, The Lost Shores, happens over a weekend. Starts on a Friday, totally on, around and through the new server WvW matches. This will take people out of WvW, negatively impacting the participation there.
The last Pumpkin Fest offered nothing towards bettering the “end game” mechanics of WvW.
A persistent 24/7/365 experience, such as WvWvW, should be priortized over a one time a year new jumping puzzle, some new skins and maybe some turkeys flying around…
ANet took the orbs, zergs are super crazy, still seeing candy corn pop up and disappear on WvW maps, rendering bombs, server reboots due to non-WvWvW issues….
My question is “When will WvW get some love?”
