I suppose next they’ll tell us that the attack on Shaemoor was “a spontaneous protest”. That the centaurs were outraged about some stupid video they saw. Why aren’t our tax dollars being used to secure our borders against these extremist groups that threaten our way of life? Surely those coins could be used on something we can actually see.
And what about implementing universal healthcare reform? Mhenlo-care seeks to provide affordable armor repair to all Tyrians, regardless of class or financial standing. With Rez/Waypoint costs on the rise due to level-based HMO’s, the middle class adventurer can barely afford these co-pays. We should be using our taxes for the good of all, instead of as bailouts for the big corporations such as BLTC and the Pigeon Postal Service.
According to my source, Logan Thackery hasn’t paid taxes in over 10 years. Apparently some people are above the law, while the middle classed adventurers are being “silver’d and copper’d” to death. We are approaching a fiscal cliff unless we can find a way to make the 1% pay their fair share of taxes. Occupy Trading Post ’12!
I’m taken back by the shear elegance in the overall game design. The combat system is easily to learn, but provides extreme depth and concepts that could take a while to master fully. The fact that I can access mail and TP’s from anywhere in the game AND that the TP is global instead of server based. The leveling curve and the fact that just about anything I could possibly do grants a reasonable amount of XP. I’m taken back by how well all the mechanics and game systems work to compliment each other instead of acting as their own separate entities. From a design perspective, this game is a huge step forward, not just for the MMO genre, but for basic game design as a whole. I’d really love to see a postmortem down the line, as I’m sure it would be fascinating.
Has it been considered that a combination of # of enemies killed and the time lapse between the kills is the trigger, not simply time killing or # of kills? My understanding is that the code is similar to the one used in GW1, which could track how quickly a series of enemies died in succession to each other, with the intention of providing the DR’s to builds that rely heavily on AoE farming techniques. It would be interesting to see a test similar to what the OP did using both single kill techniques and AoE techniques to see how time was effected by the code.
So a couple weeks ago my guild was discussing ways that we could incorporate some fun mini-game type activities, such as contests, in order to bring some team building and such into our ranks. In the discussion we hit upon the type of prizes we would like to be able to hand out for winning these contests, when we realized that was nothing noteworthy that could be traded between players. For example the Black Lion Keys, chests, gems, etc. are all account bound. The ideal situation for us would be to be able to gift a predetermined amount of gems to the winner, or at least a chest/key combo. But with the current state of things, this is not available.
It was mentioned that on the Gem Store page, near the upper left hand corner there is a button for “Redeem a Code” and that got us thinking about the possibility of being able to buy redeemable codes that were good for gems/items instead of just buying the gems directly. This leads me to my question.
Has there been any consideration given to “giftable items”? Either in the form of an in-game item that can be sent to another player’s account, similar to the chests, which will provide some sort of random consumables and other fun items, or in the form of a code that we can email/pst to another player in order for them to access the “gift” we bought for them? Perhaps a completely new item is in the works to fill this role, or we could make a particular item bound upon use, giving us the ability to “gift” them? Even if you know of a place that has previously addressed this sort of issue, I’d be happy to learn and get caught up on it.
I know that the devs and other support personnel have their hands full with a newly launched title, and by no means expect something like this to be tackled in the next 20 minutes, let alone the next couple of months. But any info we could get would be great.
You guys and gals don’t hear near the amount of praise that you deserve, and I can’t speak for everyone, but I certainly appreciate the many years of hard work and energy that was spent making this game. Every second of play really shows that dedication and care that was put into every pixel to give us the best possible experience. Thank you so much for your continued work to give us a place to play!
