Showing Posts For StarryNight.1645:
Looks like we’ve got more PvE things to, thanks to the upcoming changes. We’ll unlock traits together, and of course, we can always help you get armor skins, too!
We start Friday!
What:
Light armor Sylvari/Norn theme team starting on Tarnished Coast!
When:
Each Friday & Sunday 8pm EDT starting Friday, April 4, 2014. We typically end 10:30-11:00pm-ish. We have players in multiple time zones, so exact times vary depending on who logs on. We’ll start in April and run at least until the core group reaches level cap (plus see details below).
Where:
Tarnished Coast server. On the first night, meet at the [Astorea Waypoint] in Caledon Forest. Look for anyone representing [JST]. We’ll open up a Box o’ Fun while waiting and start up a bonfire when we get going.
Details/who we are:
The Justice Superteamers is a group of refugees from City of Heroes. We ran regular theme teams in CoH for about four years on the Justice server, and now that CoH is gone, we’re hopping from MMO to MMO doing the same. Now we’re bringing that style to Guild Wars 2!
The idea is that we pick a theme, then go from the tutorial to max level as a group doing PvE. This time around, the theme is “light armor”, and the preferred races are Sylvari and Norn. Start a new Necromancer, Mesmer, or Elementalist and join us!
After we reach max level, we might do it again with a new theme in GW2, or we might move on to another game, whatever the group decides.
Playstyle:
Our playstyle is mostly casual. About half of us are new to GW2. We tend to choose team-oriented builds, and we focus on playing the game for fun over everthing else. We are the opposite of build snobs. We don’t do speed runs and we won’t be doing champ trains or anything like that. We keep everyone included, so most of the time we’ll be playing on a map appropriate for the lowest level person who logs on in an evening. We’ll start by doing low level events, exploration/hearts, and personal stories. As the group progresses in levels, we’ll add in Dungeons, Living Story, Fractals, and other level appropriate content.
As a group, we’re friendly, mature, helpful, fairly geeky, and pretty laid back. We’d like to meet more of the same. New players and vets are welcome!
Amenities:
We have forums on Guild Portal. Our in-game guild is J S T (aka [JST]). All we have is the first level bank right now. We’d like you to join and rep when you play with us, for the chat channel if nothing else. The rest of the time, feel free to rep whatever guild you like. We have a Vent server as well. We’ll open up all these things as we get to know people (in-game guild membership right away).
Questions?
Feel free to post questions here or contact StarryNight.1645 or Perfect Square.2534 via PM or in-game message for details.
I’ve had two disconnects since the Battle for Lion’s Arch began. I don’t think I’ve had any others in the last year.
In my case, they were both during the red knight fight in Lion’s Arch. Has anyone else seen a similar pattern?
I had a similar problem yesterday, though it wasn’t after a crash. The icon didn’t even bounce. In my case, I used Activity Monitor to kill a “cider” process that didn’t quit properly, and everything started up after that.
Underwater movement and combat brings me fond memories of flying in City of Heroes. A whole city would be fun.
There was a good thread on recruitment in the guilds subforum recently: Recruiting…how can I get it to work?
I bought mine from Amazon (digital download). I ignored their Windows download, grabbed the account key from their email, and downloaded the Mac client directly from ArenaNet.
(And downloaded and downloaded and downloaded…it’s not a small download…)
As a player surreptitiously looking for a guild (on a different server than the OP), I want to expand on what Aye said, key words being “cookie cutter”. Not only are cookie-cutter replied bad, but your initial recruitment post shouldn’t read solely like a mash-up of the top twenty-five phrases used in guild recruitment. I’d like to know what makes your guild different and special (just as presumably a good guild wants to know what makes the recruitee different and special).
The OP’s recruitment post takes a step in that direction (noting the skills and interests of the guild’s founders). Then she drops another piece of interesting info in her post here, where recruits won’t see it! Telling us that you created the guild with your boyfriend because other guilds didn’t fit, then telling us why they didn’t fit will make you stand out more.
Anyway, that’s one important thing I am looking for in a recruitment post—that special something that can’t be summarized by a stock phrase.
no downside beside re downloading several gigs
No, it’s not that bad. That’s why I posted the link. What I was referring to (even if the other poster was not) is deleting the application support folder. It’s small, maybe 10-20M or so. The client will also forget your username and password if you told it to remember them, but nothing else is lost that I’ve noticed. The rest of your preferences are stored server-side.
It’s an odd recurring problem. I have in the past seen a high correlation between deleting the aforementioned folder and the problem’s being solved, but I’ve also seen it fail to work, and I’ve seen the issue resolve itself without doing anything. For me, at least, it’s happened much less frequently than it did about a month ago.
That being said, deleting the folder has nearly no downside, so if you’re desperate, give it a try. Instructions here.

I had that problem most of yesterday. I saw in another thread that deleting GW2’s Application Support folder solves a lot of problems, so I tried it. Success! Whether it’s coincidence or not, I don’t know, but you could try it.
See thread here for instructions: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Game-won-t-start-Try-this
