they need to improve hotjoin to encourage people to go spvp. getting 4v5 all the time which later lead to people leaving the team might not be a good experience for many beginners.
But how can they fix that?
They can’t stop people from leaving (even if they made it impossible to leave you could just disconnect your computer or close down the game).
They already have a system that punishes people for leaving games, and clearly that doesn’t really work.
You may not be able to stop people leaving, but they could stop the games starting imbalanced. How many times have I started 2v1. You invariably get 1 point to their 2 before they come 2v1 you. If anyone eventually joins, someone will join the winning team for 3v2 and the ever-decreasing circle of oppression starts. Why they can’t queue one until someone hits for the other team is lost on me.
Another problem I have with the hot join is that it throws everyone in together without seemingly accounting for their level. I was busy getting murdered yesterday trying out a new class and everyone seemed to have a dragon finisher. I may just be bad, but I think their overall experience means they can isolate and burst me down before I’ve figured out what my moves do. It’s a very rough training ground, but what else is there?
This was a really great match. Thanks to SBI and DR for making it so good. I spent the last 16 hours scouting Garri and tapping all the siege. It was just a shame I never got to use any of it, because we fought so hard for our camps the fight never got that far. My thanks to all the NSP who stayed up into OCX time and beyond with us. It was great to have extra people on during OCX time and really made the difference for us and wasn’t as lonely as it can be.
Right at the end, it being so close for 2nd, it was fun watching DR and SBI fight over our yaks for the precious points they give. God forbid you try and save south camp as they both fight between each other over your corpse for the stomp.
props to the defenders. i, for one, tried so hard to demoralize and it just wouldnt happen.
Good idea, but we were having way too much fun at that point to get demoralised. Sleep deprived and delirious, I was in too much of a trance for emotion.
The thing is, I do like failing repeatedly until victorious! I feel like you have only looked at this from one point of view, and that is yours. Queens Gauntlet achievements were used as an example, and I didn’t get those 5 gambit ones either last year, because I was kitten . I’m better at the game now and I got them this year. It still took me a number of tries, but this is what I enjoy. I like to have some goals in a game that give me a sense of accomplishment.
What I expect you will see is a bunch of achievements to your taste, that you can get quite easily, and a couple that will require effort. These achievements are for other people, you wont have to do them. I don’t even expect they will carry any sort of reward/title and I don’t even mind. If you can’t fore-go 10 achievement points towards your next chest of nothing special so I can have some goals to work towards, then it’s a little bit selfish to be honest. The game is for all players, and so long as the rewards are attainable by all, you really have nothing to be complaining about.
edit:
I never realised kitten wasn’t allowed. I don’t see Butch and Marceles in Pulp Fiction being at all worried when they “bring out the kitten!”
“the Kitten’s sleeping”
“Well then I guess you’re gonna have to go wake him up, aren’t you?”

Northern Shiverpeaks is looking for more players to enhance the community from late NA/OCX to SEA time. I joined Northern Shiverpeaks before Season 2 and have found a very friendly bunch and have enjoyed my WvW. I play Oceanic time and it is clear from the season that our community is light compared to many of the other worlds we have faced. We are looking to add some numbers to these timezones that would make us more balanced coverage wise around the clock.
If you are looking for a change of worlds after the season, then your efforts will certainly be appreciated here. We are particularly looking for guilds or individual players that enjoy playing some light-hearted but organised WvW on TS. Players that enjoy the adrenaline fuelled jobs of scouting and tapping siege will receive free hugs!
If you would like to find out any specific information about NSP or what it is like playing here, then feel free to whisper/mail me in game, or we can meet and talk on teamspeak.
All 3 teams have 2 Wins and a loss.
win = 5
2nd = 3
loss = 1
11 each. mystery solved!
