Took a couple of days to get debugging in on this. It is in fact a 40ms difference which equates to about 7% less damage when spamming 1. We made this change because it was creating some animation bugs to leave it where it was. It was also encouraging just spamming 1 which isn’t the most fun gameplay. If our data shows shortly that shortbow is now not effective we can certainly address that, but would do so by improving other skills on that weapon rather than by reintroducing the spam on 1 and the bugs that it was creating.
First of all Thank You for your reply sir, it took a couple of days but at least we had an answer I came from a game that GM’s wouldnt answer for weeks so thats a relief. Now with all due respect I dont think anyone except for anet have heard about that animation bug that was happening before the nerf. In fact i think you guys make that up as an excuse to nerf the SB just because you didnt want players to base their gameplay in just spamming #1 skill. Also saying that spamming 1 isnt the most fun gameplay is debatable, i didnt mind it back then and was having a lot of fun playing with my ranger, so much so that I didnt have an alt character, now i have one because the nerf force me to. I dont think the SB is the problem, the reason why all players use it is because quite frankly all the other weapons kind of sucked. In my opinion instead of nerfing SB what anet should have done was improving LB and the rest of the weapons rangers have at their disposal and even if you do that i dont think the class would be called OP.
My ranger is collecting dust in my character selection screen, I started a necromancer im having a blast in pve havent tried pvp thou but at least is a lot of fun to play so far. I cant believe there hasnt been any response yet, this is starting to look real bad i could have expected this from many others but not from arenanet guess i was wrong.
This whole latest update and this ordeal gives me a feeling of unacceptable unprofessionality.. any of us here on this forum could have handled this issue a lot better than what’s being done/not done.
I don’t think they “hate” the ranger class or anything, I just get this feeling that they really don’t care about the further development of this game. The graphics of this game are so beautiful, and the gameplay concept is quite good.. but now it’s as if they just gave up on sustaining the game.
I don’t know, maybe they wanted to get a certain amount of money from the initial sales, and once they got that due to the insane hype, they just put the game on minimum staff, minimum priority, and move on to something else. What shows this might be true as well, is the complete lack of forum feedback.. they just don’t communicate with the community at all, even though a simple post now and then would completely take away people’s worries. Unpaid volunteer moderators on social forums do better than this.
I hope this is not true i had really high expectations about this game and the way it seems ArenaNet really care for their community but doing this to the ranger class… I mean it doesn’t take a genius to know ranger needed improvements not nerfs and yet this happens…
This is starting to look like the last mmo i played where rangers were at the bottom tier of pvp nearly useless, there are many things with rangers that need fix and instead of improving them anet nerf them even more. I hope they fix this ,so far no response yet…
omg i cant believe this nerf the bleed dont stack as they used to, the damage overall isnt the same it takes more time to kill stuff the difference is quite noticeable i really hope arenanet do something about this.
I like the shortbow more, i used to like the longbow because of barrage and the look of the weapon but after all this debate i been reading i decided to give the shortbow a try and it rocks!. I can kite a lot better with shortbow and kill enemies faster, i still like to use the longbow in WvW but overall the game has become much easier and enjoyable to play with the shortbow for me.
