Have I made any excuses at all in this thread? I’ve done nothing but commend your manipulation of the weaker server. That’s not an excuse because, as you said, it’s actually happening. I actually think it’s hilarious watching Ebay play “little brother” all week. Not to mention, the fighting has been really fun.
Last night for example, we had a huge fight for SM on two fronts…Yaks from the north and Ebay from the south. It was a blast. Eventually Ebay made the cap and had to turn the castle over to Yaks after the five minute RI timer but it was awesome while it lasted.
Pretty sure Ebay “had” to turn over a paper, holey SM because they had orange swords from, I dunno… SBI! at their keep. Thanks to SBI for helping us take SM from Ebay. Check’s in the mail.
Why are you trying to hard to rile up Ebay, though? I mean you’re putting a lot of forum warrioring effort into it. Is that the best ya got?

Lots of roaming groups and roamers out, if you’re not finding them, then move to other maps because there’s been nonstop action.
Yeah, you get zerged occasionally and /laugh spammed and corpse jumped, but /shrug. Who cares? The fights have been grrrreat.

Ha you got me, I’m being deliberately obtuse. Although, Ynot, I’ll have you know my posts are not walls of text, they are beautifully formatted into clear cohesive paragraphs.
@Gab, team builds are VERY different from solo duel builds. Team builds are team oriented and shine only when you’ve got other people to cover your weaknesses. An example off the top of my head is consecration guardian, running full consecrations in utilities. A powerful asset to have on a team, but you’d be dead in a few seconds on your own.
During prime time, we try and get people to run certain team based specs, and if you were to catch them on their own with your roaming build, I don’t expect you to have too much difficulty in killing them.
I’ve been playing a lot of guardian lately, and as a team player, I run a AH hammer/staff shout+consecration build. Staff is a crap 1v1 weapon, but it is amazing in a group fight. Late night when everyone goes off, I get rid of the AH and spec into virtues for boon duration, pulling out GS and mace/focus. I also switch out the consecrations for full shouts. That’s my roaming build, giving me good in combat mobility and healing options when I am by myself.
The playstyles of the two builds are like two completely different classes. I would be ineffective in a team fight on my roaming build, and likewise my team build would suck if I were forced to fight alone.
So tl;dr, the outcome of the 3v2 match is no surprise considering the builds we run as a team vs the roaming builds of the enemy. GW2 is all about understanding and countering different builds, and no matter your individual skill, you simply wont be effective if you go into a fight that’s stacked against you. The PvE gauntlet arenas are a surprisingly good example of this – some of the bosses are practically impossible until you learn how to counter their specific special move, and certain classes are just better at doing the job than others.
“Stop making excuses, you should’ve come prepared then if you think you’re such great players”. That’s what a good roaming build is designed for – the ability to counter as many possible situations as possible. While we run as a team, everyone has a specific role and as long as we stick together, they complement each other to counter an even greater range of situations. At least that’s the theory anyway.
EDIT: I promised myself to keep this post short and sweet, but that’s apparently impossible for me.

Devona’s Rest takes an early lead. Doubling the score of our nearest competitor I think it’s safe to say the other servers should sit this one out.

Well, looks like im joining the group of people quitting/leaving DR. Today has really shown that DR is bottom tier material without all of these guilds that have left
I could have sworn that we got into t8 with you guys leading the charge. But maybe I am totally wrong, and it was all the other people who trolled their way into t8. Glad to see you leave, and thank you for your help getting us into t8. Have fun trolling other servers.
Or maybe have fully upgraded camps give an extra PPT.Gives people more reason to upgrade/attack/defend them.

>.> i like how you guys complain about PvDooring when tonight you do the same thing we did to you
Correct. It’s simply fair exchange now.
“Fool us once, shame on us. Fool us twice… -scratches head- … we won’t get fooled again!”
And now this ensuing tug of war will likely ruin us all… As I expect this will be the status quo for our two servers the remainder of our time here. Give what you’re given. DR looks pretty cozy over there on their BL though. You’re welcome.

I hear a couple of you Borliss folks are wanting the 25 silver for killing me. Specifically said, pic or it didn’t happen. It has happened a few times today. I see no pic here yet though. =P
Pft! No one even bothered to make a picture to back up their claim? It’s totally easy! Behold my entirely real and totally not falsified footage of killing you, deserving your reward!

All these issues center around WvW.
It has become obvious to the WvW community that WvW is far behind PvE and sPvP for support.
My guild ran into culling on our recent get-together in Divinity’s Reach, at an empty spot with no other players. We run into EXTREME culling and fps loss (much worse than i ever experienced in WvW in t5~8) when liberating Balthazar or Grenth temples.
Large guilds will run into culling during guild missions. And as soon as that happens, ANet will be much more pressed to double the work devoted to fixing it.
Only a WvW player has 2000 hours played but still broke, no map completion or legendary and still sees FOTM as Flavor of the Month.
Sanctum of Rall
I am from the USA, so I can only speak for my culture. Readers from other areas, feel free to add your perspective.
I see a lot of posts on this forum from people dissatisfied with WvW because their server does not have a good shot at having the highest final score in a matchup. Obviously that score measures something or we wouldn’t bother to record it. But must we accept it as the only meter of the value of an activity?
Guild Wars 2 is a game. And it’s not even a real game. It’s 1s and 0s, pixels of light. No one can win a college scholarship or a big free-agent contract by winning a WvW championship. Jade Quarry players have yet to appear in Nike commercials.
In the USA, we have this focus on championships in our culture. If a team doesn’t win the Super Bowl, their season was a failure. If a golfer beats 154 players out of 156, he or she “lost.”
Was my sports team’s season a failure if they didn’t win the league, but I had some great times with friends, enjoyed some wins, and saw some amazing performances and thrilling finishes along the way? It was a disappointment, but not a failure.
We’re robbing ourselves of the full enjoyment of our (or our team’s) accomplishments. If I’m playing a game with friends, hit the shot of my life, but my team loses the game, that was still a pretty great shot. It’s still a time to enjoy and a story to tell later.
There’s nothing real at stake in WvW. We can choose what our definition of fun is. If we need a “scoreboard,” we can pick the final score, or we can tally how many badges we get. How much karma, how many levels, how much guild influence. We can try to leave the map redder than we found it. We can hope for a daring escape or kill to remember.
If we have to win the final score to have fun, we’re robbing ourselves of some good times.
Some may say that’s the mentality of a loser. I say, if I have more fun than you, I win.
