In regards to the Sylvari having souls, after reading this thread I happened to be leveling an alt and while doing so, I replayed the Secrets in the Earth personal story mission. A bit of dialog from Iowerth is “…. The swamp may have swallowed Riannoc’s body, but it cannot keep us from contacting his soul.” At the very least, it would appear that the Priory believes that Sylvari possess souls.

I love Sylvari. ^^ This is a new character I made to have another go at a Necromancer because I deleted the last one (my Asura characters never last long). I wanted him to have kind of a wraith-like appearance. Also, I’m using an outfit at the moment because he’s still being leveled.

I have this issue as well, also in-game, and it’s even more pronounced than the above picture. It looks like someone slit his throat. ._.
