The overwhelming level of anecdotal evidence, pointless suggestions, and amateur quick-fixes in this thread makes me weep for the future of humanity.

same here, took me 3 days to get it installed!
Both of my cards never go over 50% usage so I may as well just use one. Anyone remember how to dedicate 1 card to handle regular GPU and the other to handle high level AA? Maybe I can at least get some higher image quality that way.
edit: I remember, nvidia inspector can set it
Ditto, Code 2 Duo shouldn’t be included in the minimum system requirements, it’s not realistic.
What does this mean?
I have a similar CPU spec to OPs (e7200@3.3) and I have the same experience with SLI 465’s.
So I take it there’s simply no new recent info…
Does anyone have updated SLI information? Is it currently supported, not supported at all, in the works, etc?
I haven’t found it to make much difference in performance regardless of what the SLI indicator tries to convince me of.
:)
I’m sorry, but your thread title is misleading. This is not a solution, this is a workaround (and kind of a lame one IMO).
There is a problem with the engine that not everyone is experiencing, under certain conditions the engine performs very poorly.
I’ve gone through a number of different steps to try and resolve the issues, everything short of buying a brand new machine.
One thing I did notice is that, at least on my machine and my GTX 550ti, the game has a unusually low GPU usage. Typically games that aren’t hitting the framerate cap are taxing the GPU at least close to 100% usage. GW2 isn’t even hitting my GPU for 50% usage and isn’t coming close to the fps cap. (see attachment)
Obviously the behavior is not typical of any game engine. I hope this issue does get sorted out because it would make mine and I’m sure many other’s experience much better.
To those who keep trying to devalidate other people’s performance issues, please stop doing that. There clearly is a problem that doesn’t effect everyone. Just because it doesn’t effect you, doesn’t mean it’s not a problem.
Same problem here, and my SLI only makes it that much worse. I could probably just run 1 video card for the same or better performance.
Can someone please clarify the assertion that ‘heat’ is the cause of an FPS drop? The game is pretty good at staying in the 98-100% cpu load range on a C2D, so I think the issue is better explained as the game being CPU bound, therefore freeing up CPU cycles and overclocking, temp lowering, and stopping services have the larger overall benefit.
