I’ve had this problem several times now. Highly annoying, and no real reason for it to happen with modern software. I’m sure anet will blame drivers, or memory, or ANYTHING, other than their own lack of robustness with updating a single file.

I’ve found its best to just keep a backup of the 14G+ gw2.dat file. Takes about 10 minutes to copy it back every time the patcher screws it up.

Unless the trading company can be operational 99.9% of the time, it is more than worthless. It is such a detriment, in fact, that it lowers the value of the entire game. After dealing with the frustration of the highly uninformative “Down for Maintenance” display on my screen, for more times than I can count… I want my money back for this game, because it is clearly not what I paid for. I paid for a working product. This isn’t.
