Things we know

Just getting these out there so we know we are all in agreement:

1) Conditions seem a bit strong
2) World bosses are currently too easy
3) There are some bugged skills and traits
4) There are some overpowered builds

We won’t fix it all at once but these are four large topics we are talking about. In the meantime keep the feedback and bug reports coming, and I guess farm up some world bosses. We are dedicating time towards these issues and are intending to resolve them as quickly as possible. As we have said before, the live environment differs too greatly from anything we can reliably simulate internally so big changes like today’s build will cause things to sometimes change at an alarming rateTM.

Thanks for your patience,

Jon

Tell my Ranger his condition damage seems a bit strong. He’s still laughing.

Back after a while, what have I missed?

Hey guys, recently returned after a long break. I left the game about two days after fractal dungeons were released as I did not like the direction the game was heading. I play two characters mostly, an 80 Guardian and a 80 Ranger. Both are geared pretty well, or at least were geared well at the time. I believe the Guardian is in full CoF gear, transmuted to power, precision, toughness. The Ranger is in marketplace 80 exotics I believe, as I had just hit 80 with him before leaving.

So basically my first question is, are there any must have new weapons or armor or rings? Something that would make a big difference stat wise?

Where are the new grinding spots? Before it was Orr for Karma and gold for your legendary.

Any new dungeons I must run? Anything I need to get? Anything specific I need to read?

Share your knowledge with me guys, glad to be back! Thanks for the help!

LFG FoTM Level 1 (My Experience)

Had a business trip and sadly wasn’t able to attend the event. Just got back on today and let the guild fill me in on the event, new dungeon, and everything I missed. Sat at the entrance of the dungeon for nearly thirty minutes looking for a level 1 group, nothing. Most people looking for a group were searching for 5+. Figured it was just slow atm, so I put my laptop beside my tv and played some console games, refreshing and switching between the overflow and server asking for groups.

Four hours later, multiple message suppression’s and not a single group for level 1. I guess I really don’t know what to say, I was having a decent amount of fun prior to the patch. I had just completed fully gearing my Guardian and building him just the way I liked.

I read up on the new gear, and I realized It would be a long time before I have the chance to get it, but I wasn’t overly upset. Oh well I guess, maybe I’ll log on tomorrow, but I’ll probably just fire up the console and play some football with friends. I’d rather play a glitchy online console game immediately than spend four hours staring at a chat box. Well, have a good night everyone, hope everyone else has better luck.

MrDmajor- Thank you for telling me what I already know, I was stating that because everyone who is unhappy with the recent changes that makes a post gets slaughtered by people under them telling them they’re the vocal minority.

MrDmajor- So giving the opinion that people don’t always speak up, is an uniformed opinion? And I was passing that off as being informed because I’m a grown man who understand’s that most people don’t speak up when they don’t favor something? And because I said usually 3-4 people have the same opinion as the one person speaking up but don’t means I was using statistics? Kitten, now i’m lost.

MrDmajor- If what you see is what you get, then I could make the assumption that the majority of the player base is unhappy regarding the recent changes made. And the people screaming the people who don’t like the changes are the “vocal minority” are wrong. So no, it wouldn’t be an excuse or cop out with the replies you just wrote, you’ve failed with your argument.

MrDmajor, you can use numbers in opinions, that’s why they’re opinions. As was my statement, which is why I said in “my experience”.

Snow- Anecdotal evidence? most people do not post on forums, the majority just lurk. Let’s take for instance this post, 4 replies and 96 views in the past 4 minutes. That means one of us has been refreshing this page OR 96 people have viewed this post and only 4 have chosen to respond. Out of those 96 people how many do you think agreed or didn’t agree?

I know a lot of players think these forum’s are usually only filled with the vocal minority of players. The sort of player’s who are upset and feel the need to express their opinions. Most people seem to think that the majority of the player base are content and happy playing the game.

Use caution making that statement people. In my experience for every one person that posts a reply or topic stating they are unhappy, there are usually 3-4 behind them who agree but don’t waste the time posting.

I usually use my scepter if I go down in health and can’t get it back up pretty quick, I’ll roll back while switching weapons and keep my might stacks for the team up and my dps going.

Right now Superior Sigil of Bloodlust, another good one would be Superior Sigil of Strength. But with empowered might up, I can keep 4+ stacks of might up pretty consistently so Superior Sigil of Bloodlust is best for my build.

Armor stats and effectiveness

Today I decided I wanted to buy the Orr exotic karma gear for my Guardian as I like the looks of it. I’m sure most of you know the stats aren’t the greatest on it and it’s more of a skin armor regardless. While purchasing the armor I noticed I could get 5/6 with +power, +vit, +toughness. This gave me an Idea and I decided I would try running my Guardian through CoF multiple times wearing this armor with +tough +vit traits as well. I converted the helm to a +power, +prec, +tough as I could not get the above from the karma vendor.

I usually run my Guardian in full berserker’s and traited for maximum damage, I haven’t really had much problems with this survival wise since I’ve used it so long and I’ve adapted to the play style. I thought today would be a nice change up being able to take a little more damage. Boy was I wrong.

I noticed a decrease in my damage, but not enough that I would say I’m useless now and I expected this. I noticed I had way less survivability and this was the big shocker. I noticed I was almost always the one being targeted and I’m guessing it’s due to the +tough as far as I know. This resulted in my doing less damage overall, having to concentrate more on keeping myself up. My friends also noticed this and we also noticed it took longer to even run the dungeon, than if I just went full damage. I could keep the monsters on me, and with the right skill set I could stay up, but as a whole we saw no good difference in wearing that armor. I was thinking maybe keeping aggro would allow everyone else to pump out more constant damage, but without myself as a 5th pumping out as much as usual it just slowed us down.

I guess for now I will just convert the armor to my MF set, until I get tired of my CoF as my main damage set. I’m not disappointed as I said I love the looks of the armor, and will probably keep it as a major part of my gear. Regardless if I decided to convert it to my MF or damage set in the future. I’m disappointed in the lack of effectiveness +tough and +vit seemed to offer to my Guardian.

What is everyone’s opinions on this? Has anyone tried this, have you had any success in PvP, WvW, or PvE with it? Maybe I did something wrong.

Mokaiba thank you for your insightful answer, for one thank you for not taking the time to thoroughly read what I suggested. Two, unless i’m missing something, and I don’t think I am, I know we have this feature. What I’m asking for is a feature along with it to list what kind of group we’re searching for. Next time I suggest you read the question, but thanks for your bump regardless.

I rarely see this tool used to aid players in finding a group, one simple solution would greatly benefit everyone.

Simply adding a space where players can type what kind of group they’re looking for would make this tool useful. Right now you load into a map, look at the /lfg and if anyone is even using it you have no idea what kind of group they’re looking for. Letting players type “Karma Farm”, “Arah Exp Path 1”, “Zone Exploration” or the kind of group they’re looking for would greatly benefit us all. This simple feature would lead to a great increase in the amount of teamwork, group play, and speed as to which groups are formed, in my opinion.

What is everyone’s thoughts on this?

So If I understand this correct, I can run CoF path 1,2,3 with my Guardian and receive 180 Tokens. I can then log on my Ranger and run CoF path 1,2,3 and receive 180 more tokens for a total of 360 Tokens per day? Sorry I’m just clarifying.

“I disagree, all the skins and everything can be used in the trading post. Arenanet letting players to buy gems with gold and allows the event items to be traded among players does NOT make it a cash dump. Just playing for a couple months has gotten me over 100 gold, do you know how much gems that could buy me? Anets system makes it far far better than f2p cash shop and subscription (steal) fees.”

I would bet my bottom dollar you’re also one of those people with over 400+ hours played.

I’m also not saying you have to spend any money, I’m saying I knew many people would on the off chance of getting a skin. I also know lots of people will buy gold with RL money to acquire said skins on the TP.

Who completely expected the weapon skins to be a very rare BLC drop and didn’t spend any in game gold, real life cash, time or resources trying to obtain keys to open them?

I see a bunch of people in game and on the forums complaining about it, and I understand where they’re coming from. But honestly, did no one besides me see the money that was going to be made from the gem store, and the reason why Anet wanted to keep these rare?

The rarer they’re the more of a chance you’re going to buy more keys trying to obtain them, the rarer they’re the higher the chance they will sell for lots of in game gold, causing more people to buy gold.

New Server? Low Server Pop As Is?

Actually Spicy, had you actually read my post you would understand I was talking about introducing a brand new server such as Caulle’s Crossing, when we have population issues on servers such as Ferguson’s Crossing. But thanks for your input, regardless if you read my original post or not, which I’m guessing no.

New Server? Low Server Pop As Is?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tawngs.8250

I had a quick question regarding the introduction of the new NA server Caulle’s Crossing. I made the switch today from Sorrow’s Furnace to Ferguson’s Crossing to try out a new server while it’s free, I was literally shocked at the lack of players. I opened up the WvW map and noticed Ferguson’s was annihilating the other two servers Darkhaven and Anvil Rock before the reset, something like 550k to 50k to 50k. That leads me to believe they have an even smaller population, considering the lack of players I saw on Ferguson’s.

Don’t get me wrong, maybe it was a bad week for those servers or maybe they don’t play much WvW. But I really was flabbergasted at the lack of players I ran into. Playing on Sorrow’s Furnace I see player’s everywhere, on Ferguson’s I saw maybe 5 player’s in Divinity’s Reach all below level 45. I saw nothing in chat but bot’s, and I tried to organize multiple groups for CoF and Arah with no response. I discussed this with some players in game who all agreed it was dead as a rock. It struck me as funny considering it showed Ferguson’s as a high server population, even if it that only accounts for the amount of accounts on that server.

I chalked today up as a bad server transfer decision and decided I would transfer back to Sorrow’s Furnace tomorrow when I could. Later that day while looking at the transfer list I noticed a new NA server, and this left me even more shocked. How could we possibly start a new server with the information we’re receiving from other players regarding the lack of people they see?

I think this is unfair to new players who just picked up the game honestly. If they see High server population and join that server yet no one is around, wouldn’t that cause them to kinda wonder about the game itself? This game is truly at its best when you can play with other people and feel like you’re apart of a community, but I can only imagine how disheartening it would be to log into that experience.

Can we get some info on what the server status is? How the populations are doing maybe? Plans for more servers? Plans for mergers? How will the addition of a new stand alone server affect WvW? Thanks for the help!
