Does profession priority exist?

Hello. I would like to ask some questions about what you might call the GW2 dungeon meta. While I hear the idea is for every class to be viable and able to pull their own weight, I am sure that by now there must be some favoritism with at least semi-legitimate reasoning behind it. I am currently a level 38 thief and I am already starting to feel somewhat less important than other professions such as warriors, guardians, and eles when it comes to dungeons (based on word of mouth and forum posts, not experience). I would like to do some serious PvE at level 80 and was hoping someone could clear things up a bit for me.

My question is, what professions, if any, are considered most important to groups and what professions are considered least important?

As I am fairly new to this game and my knowledge is fairly limited, I would like to know what each profession can bring to a group that would make them more valuable than another.

Thank you in advance.

I think the new one is cuter actually. I like the way the helmet looks now. Looks comfy.

This. I was at the Great Jungle Wurm encounter a few minutes ago and it died faster than I could even target it. I didn’t get a hit off so I didn’t get a chest either. Very disappointing, ArenaNet.

Is Healing power worth going for or not?

Its all depends what you want to do. I run 0/0/30/30/10 with full cleric gear +mace/shield and staff (1250 healing power) in WvW and dungeons, its amazing helpful in group fight, siege and defence, helping allies and stuff. The only downside is I dont get reward for assisting ally, sometimes i get bronze medal or nothing at all for dynamic event.

This type of thing really ought to be fixed. Players should be rewarded for supporting their group, not discouraged.

I agree with the OP. It seems many players feel like they’ve “finished” the game and it’s not even been out more than a month.

You want funny? Leap skills go “flat or up”. If you leap as someone below you, you waste your hammer AoE stun on the air above him.

Yes, this as well. I’ve noticed this on my guardian. I think the coding for this could be improved.

Optional Skill Queue

Now I know there have been threads suggesting this on other forums but I thought I’d create a thread for it here.

As I understand it, GW2 has a built-in skill queue which forces allows you to queue a skill to be used immediately after a skill currently in progress. It also queues skills to be used following CC such as a stun. Situations like this can sometimes result in a crucial skill missing and being wasted. For example, you are stunned, you press a skill, the stun ends and the enemy has since moved behind you, you use the skill, swinging in front of you, missing.

Now one could argue, “well just don’t press the skill until you’re not stunned anymore,” and it’s true this would work. But 100% perfect timing and awareness cannot be expected in a combat situation.

I have heard this also causes issues with pet active skills. Apparently pets have a skill queue of their own, and activating a skill manually will not override their skill queue. So if you try to cast a live saving pet skill and your pet has different plans, well, you’re dead.

In trying to keep this short, I am suggesting that the skill queue be an optional setting that can be disabled. Rather than queueing the skill it would either simply not cast (in the case of being stunned or incapable of casting it at the time) or interrupt the current skill you are casting.

TLDR: make skill queue optional.

Are Charr Really Atheist?

They don’t even view the human gods as actually being gods.

What do they view them as then? Surely they must respect their power, though they do not worship it. Take Kormir for example: any mortal who rises to such power is deserving of respect. The Charr know they can’t rely on these powerful people, whatever you call them, but that doesn’t mean they hate them, right? I’m wondering if you know the Charr’s feelings toward the so-called gods of the humans.

The wiki says it well enough.

Religion

Due to their history many charr shun religion. They do not accept any god’s authority and quickly anger on topics of charr worship or manipulation by god-like beings. Charr acknowledge other races’ gods as beings of power but do not see them as something worthy of worship. In the case of the Human Gods, the charr view the deities as beings to fight and strive to kill.

It’s almost like they see them as tyrants controlling the people and want to overthrow them. Thank you.

I see a lot of people comment on the “atheist” nature of the Charr and I’d like to know if that term is appropriate for their beliefs.

In the past, worshiping gods didn’t work out so well for the Charr, so they’ve decided to take charge and take their fate into their own hands (or paws). If you want something done right, do it yourself.

I’m not sure if this is atheism though. Atheism is the denial that gods or higher powers exist. But they Charr must know that something along the lines of gods exist, I mean, they’re inherent to the Guild Wars universe, aren’t they?

Now I’m not too up to speed on the GW1 lore, and I’m hoping someone will come along and clear up anything that I may be messing up here, but that doesn’t seem atheist to me. However, I’m not so sure the Charr believe in true “gods” anymore. So I suppose that if they now view all deities as extremely powerful beings, but not in fact gods, then atheism may apply…possibly. It seems a bit ambiguous though.

Anyway, I’m not arguing either side here, I just wanted to know what people think (or what people know that I don’t). Thanks.

Guild Wars 2 – game has a lot of potential, but I see people’s worries about keeping interests in playing.

1 ) Reward system is first, I know that saying, cosmetic rewards are TRUE prizes for the skill and we shouldn’t look for stat boosting has many sooth in, and after many discussion I agreed – but I think not everybody will – but, the new skins should be really different and visually easy to recognition from others, to this work.
2) I dont really see any point of NOT bringing Arenas or (name it anything you want) competive SPVP 2v2 or 3v3. It should be done and it should be done fast. Anet, kitten the ballance, just bring them, then you will slowly polish builds. Smaller PVP are really needed, people will get bored very soon with this 5v5 and 8v8. Anyway this game works very nice when you face 1v1 or 2v2 fights.
3) Duels – you said if we want, you will add it. WE WANT, add them and do it fast aswell.
4) ranked tournys – as said many times on this forums, you claimed GW2 as e-sport, then tournys should be placed as fast as possible aswell.
5) competition – please bring possibility to inspect people (items/traits)

I agree with the you. Primarily, I feel like an arena system would do wonderful in the GW2 system, and dueling allied players is to me a staple of the MMO, whether you’re a PvPer or not. And if you’re concerned about duel spam harass or whatnot, just add an option to disable duel requests.

I also really like what the you said about the PvP reward system. I feel like the reward system isn’t very intuitive. Sure you can go on the wiki to learn some things, but there needs to be some more readily available knowledge on it. Perhaps I’m not looking in the right place, but it seems very scattered to me. There’s nothing wrong with using the salvage and forge system to get rewards, but I had no idea what I was doing. I had to ask some other players to figure out how to go about it. Perhaps there should be an NPC who explains it to you and has a list of recipes for rewards (or perhaps there already is and I don’t know what I’m talking about).

I’d also really like to see some type of inspection system implemented. Countless times I find myself looking at another player and wanting to see their build and gear setup. It might just be that I’ve come from WoW, but that seems like a basic thing to me.

TLDR: this guy is right. Do what he says.
