Thanks for the fantastic game

I want to thank ANet for a great game. I’ve lasted far longer on GW2 than I have on any other game. I have at least one of each character class to level 80, mostly equipped with exotic gear. All the crafts are between 400 and 500. I’ve done map completion at least 12 times, twice that if you include my other account. I’ve got all the diving achievements and done all the jumping puzzles except for the ones in WvW and the new one in LA. All in all, I’ve had thousands of hours of fun.

Yesterday I downloaded the patch and fooled around with my characters for most of the day. I saw that most of them are broken. I saw that most of them will require a new set of exotic gear because the stats on their current gear doesn’t mesh with whatever new build I might come up with. I uninstalled the game before I had a chance to delete all of them. No regrets except that I never finished the Giant Slayer achievement. I had all the others. Like I said, I’ve had thousands of hours of fun but it’s time to move on.

Dive Master - Title

I think Dive Master should be a Title and not just an achievement.

It’s bad enough that there’s only 1 achievement for all 38 dives but to not have a title at the end just seem wrong. There’s even a Honorary Skritt title but no Dive Master .

When someone asks, “what to you get for doing the dives?” the answer is “Nothing”

Offensive Guild Names

Every once in a great while I’ll come across some pretty offensive guild names. There’s no point trying to list any here because they’ll either get me banned or they’ll be censored, assuming I could remember the exact spelling. Why is there no way to report bad guild names?

One example I remember was something along the lines of “We pick your cotton”, which seems inoffensive enough except that the 4 character symbol for this guild was the “N” word with the vowels removed.

Chat/Whisper Question

We were both in the Not So Secret Jumping Puzzle area. We had been in a party together earlier but when this happened I’m not sure we still were. In any case, his character was standing right next to me. When I right clicked his icon and selected Whisper it listed an account name rather than character name. It was the same account that had whispered me moments before. That’s when I finally realized who it was that had whispered me.

Last night someone whispered me and it listed their account name rather than a character name. I’d never seen this before and was wondering why it happened. I get whispers all the time from people from different servers so that can’t be it. We aren’t in same guild either.

Not So Secret JP bugs since Feature Patch

Prior to the Feature Patch, the Not So Secret jumping puzzle was pretty easy, both the puzzle and the dive. Since the Feature Patch, it’s a bit more difficult.

Problem 1:
If you’re standing on the ground when you log out, you’ll be in the same location when you log back in but if you’re standing on something elevated, like a narrow pipe, when you log out, your character will be in a slightly different location when you log back in. On a 1920 × 1080 screen, your character can move up to 3 inches in one direction another (3 real world inches). This is enough so that your character is no longer standing on the pipe when you log back in. There are a couple easy ways to test this:

Stand on one of the 6 pipes you have to jump across to access the ship at the very bottom. Log out and then log in. Stand on one of the two pipes that stick out from the circular platform that’s below the goggles but above the top of the ship. Log out, log in, and find yourself on top of the ship rather than on the pipe

Problem 2:
Normal behavior 1: If you jump onto a spinner just after it stops moving, it sends you horizontally in the direction you’ve facing.

Normal behavior 2: If you jump onto a spinner when it’s already moving, you get sent out and down

Abnormal behavior 1: You get sent downward even though you jumped onto the spinner as soon as it stopped moving.

Abnormal behavior 2: The spinner sends you to the correct place but then you get hit by a Knockback. That is, instead of coming to a stop, you head back in the direction you came from.
