However the changes to wvw are amazing, no more leveling each character individually. I like that a lot.
Forewarning – these are just personal opinions. Feel free to disagree or point out errors/inconsistencies.
I am…disappointed…a bit, in how drastically pvp has now changed. My favourite part of GW2 was the pvp, it’s so unique compared to other games. Such a simple concept as being able to move while casting a skill has not been embraced in other games.
The separation of pvp and pve was something that I personally liked. Most of my guild members preferred pve and sunk a bunch of time into it, amassing tons of gold and legendaries. I always preferred pvp, thus I was far behind them in pve, but significantly far ahead in pvp rank and skins unlocked.
Now, however, that separation is gone. For new players, this is good, for those like me who put time into pvp, it isn’t as good.
I was quite excited to see when I logged on, that I had been bumped to marauder rank. I had been working towards that for a very long time. Then I go to pvp, and see that there is no longer a reason to be a marauder rank. All rank chests are now gone; skins are now universal; there is no bank of weapon and armor skins that I can pull from for each character.
The biggest kicker of all those things being gone, is that I have 12 characters, several were pvp only. I had outfitted all of them of the different skins that I had earned over my time in pvp. I created multiple races and sizes of classes I liked just because I liked how a set of armor would look better on them. I liked how they all looked; I liked how I could easily and freely change that look. Now. They are all wearing their pve sets. And the only way to get back to their pvp sets is to spend transmutation charges. Just to get back to where they were already.
Gold and pve level up tokens, and even pve armors, being attainable in pvp is all well and good; but it’s disappointing that all the time and effort I put into making my pvp characters look good, and far better than my pve characters besides, is now nullified by the fact that any non pvper can now come into pvp with their godly pve equips. I saw a rank <10 that had better equips than I could ever hope to have earned in pvp before.
Now, I’ll probably hear, “This is a good thing. All you have to do is get those equips in pve.” That is not my point. I put work into my pvp. I spent time building up collections. I researched how, and then forged some hard to acquire pieces. I spent tons of glory on avenger boxes, happy with what i got, and then tons more on ransacker boxes because they were even better. I was looking forward to the marauder boxes.
In order to cut my complaining short (shorter?):
– Having to buy back the equipment that was already equipped = sadness
– Low level characters (<lvl10) can’t equip helmets from pvp, so I can’t even transmute an earned helmet on 2 of my characters.
– The trait set up is bit confusing but I will get used to it I’m sure
– Having to pay for traits however, is ridiculous; pvp was intended to be separate from pve. I have all classes, unlocking the grandmaster traits, healing skills, and sigils/runes is going to run me well over 120g and over 800 skill points. I don’t intend to buy most of them, but the sheer cost is overwhelming for a pvp only player.
– Extra sigil = awesome, disappointed that runes are now locked to one. (No more condition duration stacking/ might duration)
– Also can’t mix amulet/gems anymore, which was about the only direct stat customization we had
– Lack of 8v8 maps. When I want to play 5v5 with decent players who know what they are doing, I do tpvp. When I want to play for fun or testing, I liked to play 8v8 (good chance of large teamfights/less harmful to have a couple of new players on team)
This was a lot of rambling and complaining about things that most people are happy about. And while I was happy first hearing about them, once I saw what had actually changed, and how my past playtime would have been better spent in pve, I was disappointed.
I am not blaming anet at all, they did what was asked for, made pvp more appealing to pve’ers. And I still do love this game, a lot of fun times and a lot of frustrating times were spent on it. I just had to rant. If you made it this far in this wall of text, I commend you.
tl;dr: well uh, it’s my opinion, don’t care if you don’t read.
The necro one looked like a lot of fun. I’ll join the thief one tomorrow if a spot is open.
In Game Name: Kira Noctis or Lygo Sicarius (both thieves, prob use Kira)
Time Available: During that time period (5:30-8:30 PST)
Recording Capabilities: None atm but if you message me which program to use I can set it up
Looking forward to some fun thief times :p
The toad boss has a minute wait before the instance ends…When I am speed running through it on 9 different characters, I prefer not to wait that time
How do you fix the camera when you leave after killing a SAB boss? Such as the toad boss? The camera gets forced into boss view which is seriously far away from your character and only reliable way I have found is to go back through the zone and kill the boss then wait till the instance ends…
Is there a better way to fix it?
Anyone actually finished it? that could give insight on a place where the bauble was next to impossible to find?
