Hi there Unhinged Carrot – First, I’d check to make sure this isn’t any kind of interference by any security software or firewalls.
This could also be an issue with closed ports (could you perhaps let me know the exact error code number you’re seeing?).
Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. If you are connecting to Guild Wars 2 while on a campus, military, or business network, please check with your network’s administrator to verify that these ports are fully opened and unrestricted. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN), you will want to make sure that your network’s hardware is properly configured.
I recently purchased GW2, PC DVD, went to install, and it Failed to Download: Check connection error.
After going through customer service, doing the clientport 80 shortcut icon, the game connected, downloaded for an hour, and installed.
I go back the day after, the shortcut no longer works – won’t connect.
I also have no listing of GW2 in programs because it was not a normal client install, ie there is no way to uninstall it outside of a delete – that is bad.
And, I can’t find where it installed the game to, even if I wanted to uninstall it.
How typical is this of GW2? Anyone else have failed PCDVDs out of the box? I’d like to know, and are there any work-arounds you folks had to correct the problem if possible.
Thank you!
Good Stuff, eve-online has problems with bots also. Any GM could simply watch a bot at work and see it was a bot, takes about 5 minutes. They also did bot beat downs in groups / waves, that seems to be common practice. In eve-online, we could just suicide gank the bots and they would be dead, end of botting. 8-)
