Holy kitten that’s some huge bottleneck you have there! Yes, the games you mentioned you were able to play before wouldn’t require that much specs to run. GW2 is made for mid to high end specs, meaning you would need at least 4GB RAM/3Ghz dual processor/64-bit OS to start with, but your video card itself needs at least 4GB RAM to work properly. If your video card already “eats” all your RAM just to work, thats where you get bottlenecked.
Sad to say but you’ll need to upgrade your specs a little here and there, pal.

Feel the same about my 3rd lvl 80 toon, a Charr mesmer. Only after reaching 80 on her that i saw how bad light armors in general look in Charr characters. I’m at the moment rolling yet another mesmer, but now a human, for the sole reason of “the looks”.
As much as i wished we could have either an item or a service to switch one’s race, i’m also confident so say that Anet won’t provide such a thing, as it would take too much effort to develop. We have to keep in mind that every race has their own storyline, racial skills and what not that could’t be easily switched out.
Then again, as a Charr what wished to be a human I say +1 to this and lets hope they hear us.
