I would go with a Warrior. I have played my 80 warrior a ton along with many other professions. The thing that is awesome about warriors, is they have a TON of options for how to play them. I keep coming back to my warrior because I can change his traits, weapons, armor, and slot skills and I feel like I have a completely different class on my hands.
The GS is a warrior best weapon and I use it in most of the builds I run. If it is not the focus of the build, it is a great secondary weapon since it has 2 escape moves, a cripple, and a high dps.
Plus, Whirlwind looks BOSS with a Legendary sword.
Hey guys. i love WvW and I am running a balanced GS build at the moment. I really miss having my 100% swiftness and great boon duration, so I am trying to make a new build.
My goals are:
100% swiftness uptime.
Long boon duration.
Decent survival.
High bursts for finishing
Ability to CC someone if need be.
The reasons I chose these weapons are:
I love the warhorn for condition removal and escaping
I love the axe for huge burst and the thrown cripple #3 plus great auto attack
I love the hammer for control, especially in keeping people from running away.
I have signet of fury so I can pop full adrenaline quickly.

Make a warrior. They can play melee or ranged, support or offensive and they are pretty simple.
